At the age of five, little Pakhmutova wrote the first full-fledged piece for piano called “The Roosters Sing”, and the girl went to music school only two years later. In her native village, Alexandra improved her playing of keyboard instruments until the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. Then, after the evacuation, she continued to develop as a pianist in Karaganda. But as soon as the theater of operations went beyond the borders of the Soviet Union, Alexandra went to Moscow on her own and at the age of 14 entered the Central Music School at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
