Foreword
This book has been a real gift to us. Working on it, we all the time felt the love, happiness and indomitable fortitude of those women about whom it is told. We hope that this book will be a source of joy and discovery for you as well.
Each of us has spoken to an audience, most often female, about how to make life fuller and happier. We have always admired and been inspired by the openness with which women shared their experiences, stories and experiences. From this inspiration, the book Chicken Soup for the Soul was born. 101 stories about women.
Every day of its creation, a miracle happened in our lives! As if an invisible hand led us along this path.
For example, we spent a year looking for Phyllis Walkens, the author of "Kiss Goodnight", to ask her permission to publish it. Phyllis' husband, Stanley, was incredibly happy when we finally found them. For several years they had both been fans of Chicken Soup, but alas, Phyllis had only a week to live. She was happy to know that her story would be included in the book. She died two days later.
The sincerity, wisdom of these women, their ability to sympathize is truly a great gift to the whole world. We sincerely wish that these stories help you learn to appreciate yourself and each other day after day - as they helped us.
One of the women who wrote to us, Mary Maichalika, said: “Every woman goes through a period when too many problems fall upon her - family, work, spouse, ex-husband, children and adopted children, parents. At this time, it is very important - it is simply necessary - to take a step back and reassess priorities, to think about your mission in this life. After all, only one who knows how to take care of the needs of his soul is capable of true care for loved ones.
So, from the bottom of our hearts, we offer you Chicken Soup for the Soul. 101 stories about women. Let these stories touch your soul and awaken the wonders of love and inspiration in it.

white gardenia
Since I was 12 years old, every year someone sent me a white gardenia for my birthday. No note or postcard; calling the flower shop was useless: the purchase was always paid in cash. Soon I gave up trying to find out the identity of the donor and simply enjoyed the beauty and intoxicating aroma of this magical snow-white flower wrapped in soft pink paper.

It didn't stop me from fantasizing about who sent it. I imagined someone beautiful, romantic and too modest to reveal his name. As a teenager, I dreamed that this was the boy I was in love with, or maybe even a complete stranger, struck by my beauty.
Mother only provoked my fantasies. She asked: maybe I helped someone and he decided to anonymously thank me? For example, when I was riding a bike, and a neighbor with a bunch of children and a bunch of food drove by, I always helped her unload the car and made sure that the children did not run out onto the road.
