OGE-2018 in English. listening
Section 1 (listening tasks) asks you to listen to several texts and complete 8 comprehension tasks for the texts you have listened to. The recommended time to complete the tasks in this section is 30 minutes.Exercise 1
You will hear four short dialogues twice, marked with the letters A, B, C, D. Match the dialogues and the places where they occur: for each dialogue, select the appropriate scene of action, indicated by numbers. Use each location from list 1-5 only once. There is one extra location in the quest.
3. In a vet clinic
Read the headlines and translate them, highlight the keywords, try to predict what the speech will be about. If not all the words are familiar, you can try to guess their meaning from the context.
If, after the first listening, the place of action is not immediately clear, then you can leave the answer for later and insert the number by the elimination method. During the second listening, pay attention to those places that caused you doubts.
Understand the topic of the dialogues, hear the keywords that signal the place where the dialogue takes place, and match them with the title. No need to worry that some individual words will be incomprehensible, perhaps they will not play an important role in the entire text. Do not try to translate each word separately - this only makes it difficult to concentrate.
Your answer is a sequence of four digits. For each correct answer (one match) you get one point, the maximum number of points is 4.
We understand the task.
Now we are ready to start.
You will now be doing listening assignments. Each text will sound twice. After the first and second auditions, you will have time to complete and check the assignments. All pauses are included in the audio recording. Stopping and replaying the audio recording is not provided.
Dialogue A
A: Can I help you?
B: Yes, please. You see, I want to adopt a puppy, but I don't know much about dogs or how to take care of them.
A: Right. I can recommend this book. Have a look - it gives a detailed description of the most popular breeds of dog so that you can choose which is the best for you.
B: Oh, and it also contains very good pictures! These puppies are so cute! Yes, I'm taking it ...though the price is rather high... Anyway.
A: The cash desk is over there.
B: Fine. thank you.
We highlight the keywords that tell us that the action takes place in the store. The correct answer is In the shop (A-2).
Dialogue B
A: I've got a complaint, I'm afraid.
B: What's happened, sir? Just let us know. We do everything we can to keep our guests happy.
A: The problem is ...that ...there's a dog in the room next to mine.
B: Yes, and what's the actual problem? Many of our visitors choose us for just that reason. We admit pets which is very convenient for those who travel with animals.
A: But why did nobody tell me about that? The dog barks! I can't sleep properly at night.
B: Sorry, sir. But the only thing we can do is to offer you another room. I'll just check which one would be quieter.
We highlight the keywords that tell us that the action takes place in the store. The correct answer is In a hotel (B-4).
Dialogue C
A: It's pretty cold today, isn't it?
B: Yes, it is. But I've got used to walking in any weather.
A: Is it because you have to walk your dog?
B: Yes. Twice a day, at least. We are heading to the pond at the moment - there are special facilities for dogs there, like ladders and ramps. Are you going there too?
A: Oh, no, I'm going home. That's enough jogging for me for today. Too cold!
The phrases “I’m going home”, “too cold” indicate that the action takes place on the street. Of all the options presented, only "In a park" is suitable.
We highlight the keywords that tell us that the action takes place in the store. The correct answer is In a park (C-1).
Dialogue D
A: Are you leaving? so soon?
B: Yeah. I have to. I need to walk my dog and he won't accept any excuses on my part.
A: Yeah, I understand... What kind of dog have you got?
B: A Labrador. He's very clever but hates it if we don't follow his routine.
A: That's a shame... I mean that you are leaving... because it's so cool here. And the music is great.
B: OK. Just one more dance and I'll be off.
A: Yay! a good decision.
The phrases “It’s so cool here”, “the music is great”, “Just one more dance” indicate that the action takes place in a place where we can usually hear music. Of all the options presented, only "at a party" is suitable.
Students need to remember that one of the statements is redundant. In this case, it is statement 3 - Inavetclinic. None of the audio texts mentioned the animal clinic, nor did any of the keywords appear that could be related to this item.
Task 2
You will hear five statements twice, marked with the letters A, B, C, D, E. Match the statements and statements from the following list: for each statement, select the appropriate statement, indicated by numbers. Use each statement from list 1-6 only once. There is one extra statement in the assignment.
1. The speaker talks about his/her favorite subject.
2. The speaker talks about his/her after-class activities.
3. The speaker describes his/her school classroom.
4. The speaker explains how to use the school library.
5. The speaker describes a school book exhibition.
6. The speaker explains what his/her friend is angry about.
Write in the table the selected numbers under the corresponding letters.

Statement |
Read the sentences, highlighting the key words, try to predict what will be discussed. If not all the words are familiar, you can try to guess their meaning from the context.
If, after the first listening, what is being discussed is not immediately clear, then you can leave the answer for later and insert the figure by the elimination method. During the second listening, pay attention to those places that caused you doubts.
While listening, you need to:
Understand what the monologue is about, hear the key words and match them with the variant of the sentences. No need to worry that some individual words will be incomprehensible, perhaps they will not play an important role in the entire text.
Your answer is a sequence of five digits. For each correct answer (one match) you get one point, the maximum number of points is 5.
We understand the task.
Now we are ready to start.
Speaker A
It's large and spacious. There is a whiteboard, desks and a teacher's table but the most interesting feature is the special graffiti wall. We can write all kinds of questions on the material we are studying at the moment. For example, if you don't understand something, you can write your question on the wall and another student or teacher writes the answer.
The office can be large and spacious. The presence of a blackboard, desks and a teacher's table in the room gives us a clear understanding that the speaker is describing a school office. The correct answer is A-3 (The speaker describes his/her school classroom.)
Speaker B
I’m always glad to come to this room some time before the lesson and study the maps on the walls and samples of stones and rocks on the shelves. Yes, I find geography very interesting and it’s not a problem for me to spend hours writing out facts about famous travelers and their discoveries. My favorite classroom activity is studying and completing maps.
A person is so passionate about the subject of Geography that he is ready to spend a huge amount of time writing out facts about famous travelers and their discoveries. The key is to only mention ONE item. The correct answer is B-1 (The speaker talks abou this/her favorite subject.)
Speaker C
My grade for the Maths test was unusually high but I'm not happy about it at all. My friend Tracy isn't talking to me because of this. The thing is that in the exam room I sat next to Tracy and she’s sure I copied the answers from her paper. That's not true but she doesn't believe me. She thinks I cheated and she hates any dishonesty.
The speaker describes his friend Tracy and explains the reason for their fight. The obvious answer is C-6 (The speaker explains what his/her friend is angry about.)
Speaker D
I study in a large and modern school with well-equipped classrooms, a good gym and a swimming pool. The latter are very important for me because I use them practically every day. When the lessons are over, my friend and I go to the gym to exercise or to play volleyball. Twice a week I have a swimming class and my friend does all kinds of experiments in the school chemistry laboratory.
The key point is the information from the monologue, where the speaker talks about extracurricular activities, and also mentions the phrase “the lessons are over” = “after-classes”, “going to the gym”, “playing volleyball” are activities. The correct answer is D-2 (The speaker talks about his/her after-class activities.)
Speaker E
Students’ performance depends a lot on their ability to research and look for information by themselves. On the shelves the books are arranged in the alphabetical order. To find the book you need to know the author. There is also an electronic catalog and access to the internet resources. Just type in the key word to find whatever you want.
The speaker talks about the books on the shelves, arranged in alphabetical order. Also mentions the presence of an electronic catalog of books. The correct answer is E-4 (The speaker explains how to use the school library.)
Tasks 3–8
You will hear a conversation between two teenagers. In tasks 3–8, write down one number in the answer field, which corresponds to the number of the correct answer. You will hear the recording twice. You have 60 seconds to review the tasks.
Here you need to listen to the conversation of two teenagers and answer 6 questions on this dialogue, choosing the correct answer from the three options. As a rule, it is proposed to clarify some detail or complete the statement, the beginning of which is given in the question. You have 60 seconds before starting the audio recording - use them wisely. Read all the questions and their answer options.
Completely understand the listened text, catch as many details as possible. If you do not hear or understand a few individual words, nothing terrible will happen. Try to guess the meaning of the word based on the context. If you don't understand the translation of a particular word or phrase in the question itself, try the elimination method.
For each correct answer, 1 point is given, a maximum of 6 points can be obtained for tasks of this type.
Kevin: Hi! I'm Kevin. Can I sit here?
Kate: Yes, sure.
Kevin: And what's your name?
Kevin: Is this your first visit to Paris?
Kate: Yes, I'm from Canada and this is my first visit to Europe or anywhere else. I've never been abroad before and everything seems very exciting. And where are you from?
Kevin: From Liverpool. My family's lived in that part of England for ages and we seldom travel anywhere either.
Kate: My parents are completely different; they travel a lot because of their job, but they've never taken me with them.
Kate: But this time we are traveling all together as a family. Today we are going to have a guided excursion of the historical part of Paris. Are you here on your own?
Kevin: No. It's a school trip. The whole class are here and two teachers to supervise us.
Kate: Oh, it must be interesting traveling in a large group.

Kate: Are you a musician?
Kevin: Sort of. In our band I play the drums.
Kate: Do you see music as your career? Everyone nowadays wants to be either a celebrity or a computer genius.
Kevin: Not in my case. Music is just for fun. I'm deeply interested in physics and biology. I think that absolutely fantastic discoveries are awaiting us in these fields. They could completely change our idea of the universe and of ourselves.
Kate: So, you want to do scientific research?
Kate: But that means getting a very good education...
Kevin: Yes. This is my last year at school and I hope to start my university course this summer. I've got good grades and it makes my plan sound quite realistic.
Kate: Yes, it looks like a good one. You seem to have planned your life very well. I can't even make up my mind on what souvenirs to buy for my friends back home...
Kevin: I've found a shop with some old photos of the city. I bought several pictures there as gifts for my friends. They're not expensive and the images are lovely.
Kate: Yeah, I think that would be better than heavy souvenir mugs or T-shirts with prints. Could you tell me where the shop is?

FOREIGN LANGUAGES
1. Appointment of KIM for OGE- to assess the level of language training in a foreign language of graduates of the ninth grade of general educational institutions for the purpose of their state final certification. The results of the exam can be used when enrolling students in specialized classes high school.
The OGE is conducted in accordance with the Federal Law of December 29, 2012 No. 273-FZ “On Education in Russian Federation».
2. Documents defining the content of KIM
- Federal component of the state standard of basic general education in foreign languages (Order of the Ministry of Education of Russia dated March 5, 2004 No. 1089 “On approval of the Federal component of state standards of primary general, basic general and secondary (complete) general education”).
- Exemplary programs in foreign languages // New state standards in a foreign language grades 2-11 (Education in documents and comments. M .: AST: Astrel, 2004). When developing CIM, the following are also taken into account:
Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment. MSLU, 2003. - Approaches to the selection of content, the development of the structure of KIM
The main goal of foreign language education in primary school is the formation of students' communicative competence, understood as the ability and readiness of students to communicate in a foreign language within the limits determined by the standard of basic general education in foreign languages. This goal implies the formation and development of students' communicative skills in speaking, reading, understanding sounding / oral speech by ear and writing in a foreign language.
To determine the level of formation of communicative competence among graduates of the main school, the examination work of the OGE provides for two parts (written and oral) and uses various types of tasks aimed at testing communication skills and language skills.
The fulfillment by students of the totality of the tasks presented allows assessing the compliance of the level of their foreign language training, achieved by the end of education in the main school, with the level determined by the standard of basic general education in foreign languages. This level guarantees the possibility of successful continuation of education in secondary school.
4. Connection of the examination model of the OGE with KIM USE
The examination paper for the OGE and KIM USE in foreign languages have common objects of control (communicative skills of graduates in listening, reading, writing and speaking, lexical and grammatical skills) and some common content elements.
To test the communication skills and language skills of graduates of grades IX and XI studying in the examination papers, the same types of tasks are used (for example, tasks with a short answer, tasks with a detailed answer, tasks for choosing and recording the number of one answer out of three proposed), and also unified approaches to the evaluation of productive and receptive types of speech activity.
At the same time, the OGE and the Unified State Examination differ in the objectives of the conduct, and the KIM OGE and the Unified State Examination differ in some elements of the content being checked, the number and level of complexity of tasks, the duration of the exam, which is due to the different content and conditions of teaching foreign languages in primary and secondary schools.
5. Characteristics of the structure and content of KIM
The examination paper consists of two parts:
- written (sections 1-4, including tasks for listening, reading, writing, as well as tasks for monitoring the lexical and grammatical skills of graduates);
- oral (section 5, containing tasks for speaking).
KIM in foreign languages includes tasks of various forms:
- 14 tasks with the answer recorded in the form of one number: 6 tasks for testing the auditory skills of graduates (section 1 "Listening tasks") and 8 tasks for testing the reading skills of graduates (section 2 "Reading tasks");
- 18 tasks with a short answer: 2 tasks to test auditory skills, 1 task to test reading skills and 15 tasks to test the lexical and grammatical skills of graduates of the ninth grade. The answer to tasks with a short answer is given by the corresponding entry in the form of a number or a sequence of numbers written without spaces and separating characters or a word/phrase written without spaces and separators).
- 3 tasks with a detailed answer: writing a personal letter in section 4 "Assignment in writing"; thematic monologue statement and combined dialogue (section 5 "Tasks for speaking").
.............................
OGE in a foreign language is one of the selective exams for ninth graders. Examination in this subject is chosen by many high school graduates, because the prospect of getting into a specialized linguistic class is quite tempting. Well, the future associated with the use of a foreign language as a professional tool gives a chance to ensure good earnings and a decent standard of living.
Among all foreign languages studied modern schoolchildren, English holds the palm. This is not surprising, because it is recognized as the language of international business and diplomatic communication. Practice shows that it is not so easy to pass the OGE in this subject - for a good grade, it is not enough to memorize the basic rules and language norms.
In addition to passing a written exam, in 2018 students will demonstrate their listening skills, as well as their ability to speak English. In addition to self-preparation and work with a tutor, you should also study the features and structure of the ticket, understand how points will be awarded, and also find out what innovations can await you in 2018 CIMs!
Demo version of OGE-2018
OGE dates in English
Rosobrnadzor has already announced the approximate schedule of the OGE for 2018. Students will take a foreign language (including English) on the following dates:
- April 28 (Saturday) is scheduled for early delivery of a foreign language. The reserve day will be April 30, 2018 (Tuesday);
- the main OGE will be held on May 25 (Friday). The reserve day for the main OGE will be June 20, 2018 (Wednesday);
- an additional day for the delivery of a foreign language will be September 14 (Friday). Booked as a reserve on September 21, 2018 (Friday).
Changes in the OGE in English
In 2018, tickets in English were not subject to changes in terms of structure and content. The subject commission reports that the only innovation was the change in the criteria by which task number 33 (writing a letter of a personal nature) will be evaluated.
What is included in the KIM OGE in English?
The main purpose of the exam is to test the ability of ninth graders to communicate in English. The commission will test your skills in understanding oral speech, the ability to speak, read and write in English. It is the OGE that will determine whether the student is ready for high school education, and will also identify students who can be recommended for grades 10-11 with a linguistic bias. The structure of the ticket can be divided into two parts:
- written part - sections of the ticket from the first to the fourth. Students will demonstrate their listening comprehension skills (listening), as well as demonstrate English reading skills, writing skills and using lexical and grammatical skills. The maximum points that can be scored for this part of the KIM is 55;
- oral part - consists of one section, which includes tasks from the speaking part. The maximum that can be obtained for the oral part of the ticket is 15 points.
The correct performance of all the tasks of KIM makes it possible to get 70 points.
Speaking will require not only knowledge of the rules, but also the ability to maintain a dialogue
In most tasks (namely, thirty-two), the student will be able to give a short answer to the question posed by establishing correspondences for the sets, choosing the correct answer from the provided list, filling in the gaps in the text or converting the words into the correct lexical form. Tasks with a detailed answer are writing a personal letter, reading aloud an excerpt from a popular science text, conducting a dialogue with a teacher and a monologue on a given topic. The entire ticket can be structurally divided into the following parts:
- listening - includes tasks based on phrases used in everyday communication, informational texts and announcements. Each fragment sounds for about one and a half to two minutes and is played twice. The complexity of the tasks is identical to the language level A2;
- reading - tasks are based on texts of a pragmatic, popular science, journalistic and artistic nature. The volume of the fragment is from 220 to 600 words. The complexity of the tasks corresponds to the language level A2;
- grammar and vocabulary - tasks that will test the depth of understanding of school material and the ability to operate with it;
- personal letter - writing a text of at least 100-120 words. Letters with less than 90 words will not be evaluated according to other criteria - the student will immediately receive 0 points for the entire task. It is equally dangerous to write a letter that is too large - if it contains more than 132 words, then the commission will check only the first 120 words in the work, and leave everything else unattended;
- speaking - tasks involving the use of several types of vocabulary. Be prepared for the fact that you will have to use social vocabulary (talk about leisure activities, relationships with friends, hobbies, prominent cultural or scientific figures, environmental issues, etc.), as well as vocabulary from the educational and labor sphere (a dialogue is possible about the choice of a future profession or the role of a foreign language in different areas of our lives).
Regulations and features of the exam
The student will have to complete the tasks from the first four sections in 120 minutes. At the same time, the profile commission recommends the distribution of time as follows:
- 30 minutes for listening (section 1);
- 30 minutes for tasks that test reading skills (section 2);
- 30 minutes - to identify skills in grammar and vocabulary (section 3);
- 30 minutes for writing a personal letter and testing other written English skills (section 4).
15 minutes will be allotted for speaking.
Any textbooks and reference materials will have to be handed in before the start of the OGE
Students are not allowed to bring additional materials and subjects that are not related to the exam to the OGE. You can only take a pen with you. All other materials and equipment are provided by Rosobrnadzor - the classrooms will be equipped with technical means for playing audio recordings, and the speaking classes will be equipped with computers, sound recording programs and microphones necessary to record the student's answers.
How are primary scores translated into grades?
The points for the examination paper will be transferred to the usual school grading system. The translation scale looks like this:
- from 0 to 28 points - "unsatisfactory" rating;
- from 29 to 45 points are translated into the “satisfactory” mark and will allow you to get a certificate;
- from 46 to 58 points means that the student will receive "good";
- from 59 to 70 points are identical to the mark "excellent".
When students are assigned to specialized linguistic classes or enrolled in specialized lyceums, students with 56 points or more have an advantage.
Preparation for the OGE in English
Remember: none of the foreign languages, including English, can be passed with a swoop! Only a long and competent preparation for the OGE will give a chance to successfully pass this test. First, identify possible gaps in knowledge - for this you need to download and work through the demo versions of KIMs published by FIPI. Demo versions of tests, files for audition and requirements codifier can be found at the beginning of the article.
Do not forget that knowledge of the rules of the English language is absolutely useless if it is not supported by the ability to perceive speech by ear and speak a foreign language. To prepare for listening, regularly listen to audio books and English-language music, watch movies and TV series in the original dubbing (it is better not to watch videos with subtitles - a line with words will distract your attention from listening to the speech of the characters).
Take enough time to prepare for the OGE - you should start in September
Speaking is another problem for 9th grade graduates. Vocabulary, grammar and writing usually bring students good points, but when conducting a dialogue or monologue, many are lost. To practice speaking, it is worth playing everyday scenes in your head, having small dialogues with friends, sisters, brothers, moms and dads, and also describing in English the situations that have just happened to you in the cinema, supermarkets and buses.
Do not forget that you may be asked to talk about a famous person. Watch a series of BBC or other popular science programs that talk about world-famous artists, writers and scientists, take notes by ear, check the spelling, and then regularly read your text and listen to recordings of broadcasts.
Writing a personal letter in response to an incentive letter.
A student in the OGE in English is required to write a letter to a friend in response, based on the information provided in the assignment.
The time allotted for the task is 30 minutes.
The maximum score is 10 points.
TASK EXECUTION PLAN
In order to get a good score for the Writing section in the OGE in English, try following these tips:
- Stand the genre
Fortunately, in the OGE (GIA) in English there is only one format for a written assignment - a personal letter to a friend.
Imagine that you are talking in person.
Try to ask questions to maintain the interest of the addressee, add details and express your personal attitude.
Words and expressions should not be formal, as in real communication with your friends.
Informal writing also suggests the presence of short forms:
it's instead of it is,
I've seen instead of I have seen
- It is important to stick to the 100-120 word limit
Writing less than 90 words will not be graded at all and you will receive a 0 out of 10 for this part of the exam.
Part of the text of the letter, exceeding 132 words, is not evaluated, in this case, getting 0 points is much less likely,
120 words will be counted from the beginning of your letter and only those words will be checked,
the mark will definitely be lowered for the structure of the letter,
because the prescribed volume will not include the obligatory farewell and signature for a personal letter.
- It is necessary to adhere to a clear structure of the letter
1 paragraph - address and date (in the upper right corner)
2 paragraph - appeal and greeting
3 paragraph - reaction to a friend's information
4 paragraph - the answer to 1 friend's question
5 paragraph - the answer to the 2nd question of a friend
6 paragraph - the answer to the 3rd question of a friend
(or answers to all questions together in one paragraph)
7 paragraph - a message about the desirability of receiving a response
8 paragraph - signature
answer them in one word
as, however, and ignore the message of your friend.
For getting maximum score each question should be answered in sufficient detail - about 2 sentences.
- You should show the examiner the variety of vocabulary and grammatical structures that you know
synonyms, antonyms, words from the same language family
as many different grammatical structures as possible within a given volume.
Impress the tester with the knowledge of different tenses, complex sentences, degrees of comparison of adjectives and conditional moods.
- The letter should be logical and connected
check the consistency and logic of the presentation of your thoughts
link separate paragraphs with introductory words - well, by the way, you asked me about ... etc.
- The letter must be lexically and grammatically correct.
Try to write avoiding words and structures that you are not sure about, and check the final letter for typos and spelling errors.
Greetings, dear readers!
School life is gaining momentum, and many will have to make an important decision regarding the delivery of certain subjects this school year. Some of my students have opted for English. Of course, I support them and start publishing a new section on the site, in which I will post materials from recommendations for the successful passing of the OGE in English, examples of tasks, analysis of typical mistakes.
What do you need to know?
Tell me, how many of you know how to play golf? Not? Strange, because this is a purely English game. To be honest, I don't either...
“But what does golf have to do with it?” - you ask. It's simple - to play this game (and any other), you need to know the rules.
Golf(English) golf) - a sports game in which individual participants or teams compete by driving a small ball into special holes with clubs, trying to cover the allotted distance in the minimum number of strokes. In each game, the player must play a certain number of holes (usually 18) in a certain order.
In the same way, at the OGE, you need to complete a certain number of tasks (usually 36), while making the minimum number of errors and keeping within the allotted time for this.
Without knowing the format of the exam and the types of tasks, even a strong student will find it difficult to cope with the task. As Radislav Petrovich Milrud said in one of the forums for teachers, “Testing with limited time is a special skill.”
What should a teacher prepare students for an exam?
Firstly, to familiarize yourself with the regulatory documents on the FIPI website, and secondly, to explain in an accessible form to your wards what tasks they have to perform, how much time is allotted for each section and how to correctly fill out the answer forms.
What needs to be done by a student who is preparing to take the OGE in English?
You can independently (on the same FIPI website) see the assignments and recommendations for their implementation in the demo version of the current year, and then approach your school teacher and please him with your sudden decision to take the OGE in English! Be prepared for the fact that his reaction can be very unpredictable - from restrainedly positive to extremely negative, especially if you do not live in a big city, do not study at an English special school, and, in general, your art teacher teaches English.
What kind of nonsense I wrote here, many of you will think. But in the vastness of our vast Motherland, this does not happen!
What to do? Study English, no matter what, I will answer you. And if you have reached these lines, then you are in the right place and at the right time. So here we go!
Structure of the OGE (main state exam)
The examination paper consists of two parts:
- written(sections 1–4), which includes tasks for listening, reading, writing, as well as tasks for monitoring the lexical and grammatical skills of graduates
- oral(section 5), which consists of 3 speaking tasks
All you have to do 36 tasks , which are divided into two levels of difficulty:
- level 1 includes 19 tasks, the maximum number of points is 34
- level 2 includes 17 tasks, the maximum number of points is 36
The total points for the entire work - 70
Scale for converting OGE scores into grades
5 - 59 - 70 points
4 - 46 - 58 points
3 - 29 - 45 points
2 - 0 - 28 points
The results of your exam can be used for admission to specialized secondary school classes. A guideline for selection in profile classes can be an indicator whose lower limit corresponds to 56 points.
The duration of the OGE in foreign languages
The time for completing the first four sections of the examination paper, that is, the written part - 120 minutes (2 hours).
section 1 (listening tasks) - 30 minutes;
section 2 (reading tasks) - 30 minutes;
section 3 (tasks on grammar and vocabulary) - 30 minutes;
section 4 (writing task) - 30 minutes.
Oral response time is 15 minutes per respondent.
Until today, the answer to the question “Is the oral part (speaking) held on the same day as the written part, or is the exam held in two days?” remains open to me. The guys who took the OGE in 2016 told me that the exam took place on the same day (from 9:00 to 16:00). That is, each student waited in line and entered the classroom at a certain time for him. On the forums of English teachers, I was given the following answer: “The exam is taken in two stages with an interval of 2-3 days for preparation”, which corresponds to the Order of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation of January 26, 2016. According to the approved schedule, the OGE in English was held on May 28 and June 7.
Probably, this issue will be resolved locally in each individual school.
Additional materials and equipment
Each classroom for conducting the written part of the OGE in foreign languages must be equipped with a technical means that ensures high-quality reproduction of audio recordings on CDs for completing the tasks of section 1 "Listening tasks". Audiences for the oral part of the exam must be equipped with computers with pre-installed special software, as well as headsets with built-in microphones. For the oral part of the exam, language laboratories with appropriate equipment can be used.
- Make a decision as soon as possible (September) on passing the OGE in English

After reviewing the general information about the exam, you can immediately begin to prepare. The 2018 KIM OGE variant does not differ from the 2017 variant.
The structure of the OGE test
The division of tasks in the structure of the exam is carried out on the basis of various topics of knowledge of the language:
- part 1 - listening tasks, 5 tasks in total, include both questions with a short answer and with a choice of an answer option;
- part 2 - tasks for reading the text and answering questions similar to listening questions, a total of 5 tasks;
- part 3 - grammar tasks - suggest a short answer to the question posed - 12 tasks;
- part 4 - self-writing the text of the letter in response to an English-speaking friend;
- part 5 - oral answer to the question and dialogue with the examiner on a given topic, the duration of the answer is 6 minutes, preparation for the answer is about 10 minutes.

The maximum result for task number 3 - 6 points
TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE TASKS IN THIS SECTION
A big mistake many students do on listening assignments is to ignore the assignments themselves before listening.
half of the success here is working with tasks at the stage before listening to audio materials
- Read carefully and “tune your ears” to the topic that will be discussed
- Underline key words in each question
- Try to predict the answer or vocabulary you are preparing to hear
the second step on the way to good scores in this section of the OGE will be direct listening and execution of buildings
- Record while listening important words or make notes on the question sheet (both in Russian and in English)
- Check your answers when listening again, so that it does not turn out that some important fact was missed due to inattention
- Do not leave spaces (questions without answers), because, firstly, there is always a chance to guess the correct option, but, more importantly, not to make mistakes when transferring to the answer sheet (prevent answer shift)
EXAMPLE OF COMPLETING TASK №2
Let's try to apply the above tactics on one example.
One of the answers (No. 2) to task 2:
Highlight key words:
The speaker talks about his/her after-class activity.
We make assumptions about what can be heard in a monologue about events held at the end of compulsory lessons - these can be:
- sports sections, for example, in the following sports – football, basketball, volleyball…,
- art circles, and then you expect to hear, for example, the verbs draw - draw / paint, or perform - act / perform ...
Speaker D mentions the following additional activities available at the school: gym, swimming pool, volleyball, chemistry laboratory.
We have one 100% hit of our guess with what we heard - volleyball l, but even if it were not there, for similar options - football, basketball, we would already be able to determine the correct answer.

A. Almost 2,000 years ago, the army of Ancient Rome landed on the coast of Britain and headed north. Soon they came to a wide, deep river. The army could neither walk across it nor find an alternative route. The only solution was building a bridge. The Romans found a place where the river was relatively narrow and built a bridge. Then they founded a settlement, which they called Londinium. Today it is known as London.
b. The Romans soon discovered that Londinium was an ideal site for a port. Their bridge prevented large ships from going up the river, so all trading ships had to stop and unload at Londinium. It made Londinium an important trading center and stimulated the growth and development of the city.
C. The first London bridge over the Thames was built of wood – and then rebuilt time and time again. Later, a stone bridge was constructed. By the 1350s there were nearly 200 houses and shops on top of the bridge, and the road across it was very narrow. It was very difficult for carriages, horses and people to move across the bridge. They often couldn't pass one another and had to spend hours on the bridge.
D. When the Thames flooded, it covered London with water. After a bad flood in 1953, people began to look for a way to control the river. In 1982 the Thames Barrier opened. When its gates are raised, they form a steel wall more than half a kilometre long across the Thames. It prevents flood water from reaching London. More than 90 times the Thames Barrier has saved the capital from flooding.
E. Nowadays, Tower Bridge is one of the most famous bridges in the world. The walkway between the two bridge towers provides a perfect sightseeing platform to enjoy a magnificent view over London. Inside the towers there is exhibition, which tells the history of the bridge via photos, films, and other media. Tower Bridge also performs its original function of providing a road across the River Thames.
F. In Britain, swans have privileged status. Since the 1100s, all unmarked swans on any public lakes or rivers in the country have belonged to the Crown. The swans on the River Thames are called Mute Swans. They have a bright orange beak with a black spot on the top. Every July, a special ceremony called “Swan Upping” takes place on the Thames at Windsor. All the swans are caught and their markings are checked and recorded.
G. nowadays, the River Thames is the cleanest river in the world that flows through a big city. This is a great achievement only fifty years ago because the river was so dirty and poisoned that it was declared biologically dead. Special plants to clean the water were built in the 1950s. Soon, special laws were issued to stop factories letting their dirty water go into the river. Strict government measures have saved the river.
Write in the table the selected numbers under the corresponding letters.

Sports in Great Britain
It is interesting how many of today’s sports games originated in Britain – football, rugby, tennis, boxing, rowing and horse racing among them. Of course, horse racing was popular with the Greeks and Arabs long before the British began to put them into practice; and people had been playing football in one form or another for thousands of years all over the world. But it was the British who created special rules for these sports and sports games.
Football is a good example. In the Middle Ages people in Europe, Japan and Asia all played some forms of the game. A sort of football was also very popular in England, especially as a contest between villages. But at that time there were very few rules. When the students of English schools started to play football, the rules then became necessary. They were changed several times and by the middle of the 19th century football had become very much the game that we know and like today. By the way, the first serious football rules were written at Cambridge University.
A similar story can be told about some other sports. Why did this happen in Britain before other countries? There are some possible explanations: after the Norman invasion of 1066, Britain was quite a peaceful country. As a result people had time to develop sports. Later, after Britain's industrial revolution, English factories were based on highly organized work and strict time keeping. The same discipline was applied to sport. So uniforms, referees and punishments were introduced to football and other games. British authorities thought that team games were good training for future military and industrial careers.
Every country has its own list of favorite sports. What is the British list? There are lots of games apart from football. Schoolgirls, for example, play a game which seems a lot like basketball. It is called netball. Netball is different from basketball in many details: for example, the ball is lighter, the court is bigger and netball has seven players in each team (not five). There is something very strange about netball – it is never played by boys. There is no biological reason for this, it is simply a tradition. It is popular throughout the English-speaking world, and the Australians and New Zealanders usually win the competitions.
But the most famous and popular British sport is cricket. Cricket is an important part of English summer life. You can watch it all day on TV or even listen to it on the radio. News programs keep you up-to-date with the score. Men, when they meet, always exchange a few words about the state of the game.
One of cricket's distinguishing features is that the games are very long. In an ordinary game at a boys' school it takes up to a whole afternoon. But the big international games are up to five days long.

OGE English. Grammar | Flapcity | Review
Fipi English oge. Grammar decision
There is less and less time left before the OGE in English. I have already settled on Fipi's website and I myself am constantly resolving options from Fipi's Open Job Bank.Today I want to talk about the grammar section in the OGE.
There are 2 tasks in this section, for the completion of which 30 minutes are given.
9 grammar tasks. The first thing we need to do when completing this task is to determine the part of speech .
Noun- just put it in the plural. Remember about exceptions. And also about words that end in a consonant + y and f, fe.
Adjective- only the degree of comparison.
numeral- we make ordinal and remember how the first, second and third will be.
Pronoun- here you need to make a sign and repeat the possessive, object, reflexive and absolutely possessive. And most importantly, remember how they differ.
Verb is the hardest part.
First, let's look at who is doing the action. Most often in tasks there is not alive (rarely alive) object over whichth perform an action. For example, the cake was decorated... the cake does not decorate itself. When an action on an object is a passive voice (be + 3 verb form). In grade 9, the passive voice is only in Simple, so we change the form of the verb be.
I wish- in grade 9 after this construction, only the simple past tense (2nd form of the verb, if affirmative)
Construction with If
If is present simple, will is the first form of the verb
if is the past simple, would is the first form of the verb
And then the times go by. You either know them or not, but there are still small tips. Remember about the coordination of tenses, if you have a past tense in your sentence BEFORE and After the word, then the desired word will most likely be in the same past tense. If you have a sentence in quotation marks, then on the contrary, we don’t look at what happened before.
The best option is to solve more tasks from the Fipi website and look for someone to check. Many answers are on the site I will solve Oge. Here I will solve some options in the comments, the solutions of which I did not find on the Internet, and there I will just analyze the solution.
There will be a separate post about vocabulary tasks.

Section 2 (Reading the OGE 2018)
Section 2(tasks for reading) contains 9 tasks for understanding the texts read. Recommended time to complete this section is 30 minutes.
Methodological hint
- Read the headings, translate them, try to find what they have in common (topic, problem, situation, keyword, etc.) and how they differ from each other (different aspects of the topic, problem, attitude to the problem, etc.) .
- Highlight key words in the process of familiarization with headings.
- Try to predict what the text will be about, its main content, pick up the words / phrases that are necessary to disclose this topic.
- Carefully read each of the proposed texts, not paying attention to unfamiliar words and expressions, i.e. without going into details.
- Try to formulate the main idea of the text on your own, then choose the answer that is closest in content from the proposed options and mark it. If it is difficult to immediately determine which heading fits the text, you can skip this moment and read the next passage, then return to that place.
- Check whether the choice of one or another correspondence is justified, whether other correspondences are correctly established.
- Make sure the extra heading is chosen correctly.
- If the text seems incomprehensible, set it aside. Match headings to other texts and act by elimination, having 2 texts, the chance to even guess the correct answer is much higher.
- Make sure you don't use the same letter twice.
- Record the final answer in the table after the assignment.
- When reading the text, determine the main idea for yourself, separate the main from the secondary, ignore unnecessary information and unfamiliar words that do not interfere with the understanding of the main content.

The ninth planet of the solar system was discovered not long ago. It happened in 1930. Scientists had been hunting for the planet for a long time. They had calculated its probable position but there was no proof that the planet really existed. It was too far away for the telescopes of that time to find it. It's worth mentioning that the first photos of the planet were taken by a very young researcher. He was only twenty-four and had no formal education in astronomy. However, he was deeply involved in the search for the ninth planet. The planet at the edge of the solar system was called Pluto, after the Roman god. The name for the planet was suggested by an 11-year-old British girl.

Read the text. Determine which of the following statements 10–17 correspond to the content of the text (1-True) which do not match (2 - False) and what the text does not say, that is, on the basis of the text, neither a positive nor a negative answer can be given (3 - Not stated). In the answer field, write down one number that corresponds to the number of the correct answer. Christmas Tree Memories My name is Ted. I grew up in the 50s, but my childhood memories are still alive. The most pleasant of them is the family Christmas tree. Besides my mum and dad, there were five children in the family. We all took part in decorating the Christmas tree, one way or another. It was a special time for me as dad took us for a trip to the winter forest. The experience was special as only boys were allowed to go to the countryside to pick out the tree. At the age of five I felt proud to be in a man's adventure. I remember walking through the forest with dad looking for the perfect, large tree. We had a tall ceiling in the living room, so a small tree did not look right there. At the age of five, even a small tree seemed great to me. To measure a tree I raised my hands above my head and looked up. If I could reach the top of the tree I thought it was big enough. Dad, however, always chose the perfect tree very carefully. Once he had made his choice, he took out an ax to cut down the tree. I wanted to help my dad and brothers, but they always told me to stand back. When the cutting began, I tried to hold the tree up. I was afraid the tree would fall on them and I felt strong enough to hold it. After the tree was down we took it to the car and went back home. I don't remember how we got that large tree through the door, but it was always right. Then dad got the tree to stand up and we could start the decorating. The tree, the boxes with decorations and a tall ladder took up the whole room. All the family took part as mum gave everyone a task. I had to pass the decorations. What I liked best about the Christmas tree were the lights. When everybody else had left I stayed in the room and watched the lights traveling up and down the Christmas tree. Dad had one more special job that day. Mum took her favorite ornament, a lighted angel, which she had got as a present from her family. Dad climbed up the ladder and fixed the angel at the top of the Christmas tree. When I looked at the angel, I thought Santa was close to my house. Everyone, and the decorated shining tree, was ready to celebrate Christmas. It was so big that it nearly touched the ceiling. I felt I was a small part of a big adventure. The last few years we lived in that house the trips to the forest with dad ceased. We bought an artificial tree instead.
