All-Russian competition of design and research works of students "Edges of Science"
Students in four age groups can take part in the competition: 1-4 cells, 5-6 cells, 7-8 cells, 9-11 cells.
The purpose of the competition: to improve the quality of education and the effectiveness of student learning by means of project and research activities.
Competition objectives:
Development creativity and cognitive activity students;
Enabling students to compete on a scale that goes beyond educational institution and region;
Identification of gifted children through project and research activities.
Competition subject:
Design and research works of schoolchildren of grades 1-11 and students of grades 1-2 (on the basis of grades 9) are submitted for the competition
Criteria for evaluation.
1. The clarity of the wording of the topic, its relevance.
2. Putting forward a hypothesis for research work and the presence of a problem for design work.
3. Use of scientific facts in work, experience of scientists and researchers
4. The logic of drawing up a work plan, the completeness of the disclosure of the topic.

May 4-5, 2016 year has passed face-to-face tour of the All-Russian competition of design and research works of students "Horizons of Discovery - 2016". The organizer of the competition is the Institute for the Study of Childhood, Family and Education of the Russian Academy of Education, together with the participating schools of the network innovation platform.
This competition was held for the ninth time, and it began as a district competition of design and research works of schools in the Northern District on the basis of the GBOU School No. 1384 named after A.A. Lemansky, and teachers from schools in the Northern District of Moscow have always been its permanent participants and organizers. In 2016, as in the past, the competition was held in two rounds - in the first, remote, works are submitted to the school-projects.rf portal, each work is evaluated by three experts. 190 projects took part in the distance tour, these are over 500 children and 300 teachers from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Moscow region, Bryansk, Stavropol, Vologda, Volgograd, Ivanovo, Tyumenskaya, Vladimirskaya, Novosibirsk regions, Perm region. Works were submitted both individual and collective, from schools, gymnasiums, lyceums, centers children's creativity, special correctional boarding schools and from orphanages. All the winners and participants met at the face-to-face round remote tour. In addition to the traditional awards, all the guys were waiting for work in project groups to develop a common network project - a stand exhibition and “ brainstorm» in teams.
The work in the project groups was carried out in the thematic areas of future interschool network projects: “Health is the strategic potential of the country”, “School television - making life better”, “Network almanac “Reading Russia”, “School Academy of Fine Arts: aesthetics of the future”, “School Academy of Sciences: Network Laboratory of Naturalists", "Space Perspective - Engineering Design of the Future", "We are responsible for the world— Ecological Initiative”, “History is a Humanitarian Project”, “Russian Cultural Heritage: Museums and Routes”. The moderators of the face-to-face round were the teachers of the schools participating in the network innovation platform of the FNBSI "IIDSV RAO" - GBOU Gymnasium No. 1409, GBOU School No. 1384 named after A.A. Lemansky, GBOU School No. 1251 named after Ch. De Gaulle, GBOU School No. 1249, GBOU School No. 597 "New Generation", as well as specialists in the field of cultural studies, pedagogy and psychology of childhood Russian Academy Ph.D. I.A. The youngest participant, the younger brother of the "veteran" of our competition from gymnasium 1409, turned 6 years old, and he enthusiastically took part in the development of the network natural science laboratory project and even participated in visual model atom, which the guys demonstrated on stage. And the oldest and most experienced participants were 11-graders from the city of Bryansk, who presented a serious sociological research- Interviews with successful people in your city. Children from the schools of the Northern District of Moscow, gymnasium No. 5 in Bryansk, from the schools of Chekhov and Odintsov near Moscow learned to work in a team, in groups of different ages, arguing, discussing and asking such questions that scientists in serious laboratories are racking their brains over today. The guys who worked in project groups on environmental issues, healthy lifestyles, school television, demonstrated a responsible civic position, offering their ideas for solving urgent environmental and social problems. As one of the parents who participated in the discussion that took place in the afternoon during the children's public defense of their proposals said: “If at least one positive children's initiative is implemented in every city, in every school, then our life will really become better!” All young designers participating in the face-to-face session were awarded certificates of the developer of a network innovation project from the Institute for the Study of Childhood, Family and Education of the Russian Academy of Education. The works of the best participants will be published in the All-Russian electronic scientific and methodological journal "Don't Be Dependent". This is the third year that V.V. Zaretsky, director of the Center for the Protection of the Rights and Interests of Children of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. Young developers of network projects were greeted by Nina Petrovna Parkhomenko, director of school No. 1384 named after A.A. Lemansky, on the basis of which the competition is traditionally held. She invited the children on a tour of the robotics laboratory of the Moscow Aviation Institute, a longtime partner of the school, and a group of children from Bryansk and Moscow enthusiastically went there. The public defense of network projects was broadcast live by the WIF-TV school television studio of Gymnasium No. 1409, and all participants conveyed greetings from the stage to their teachers, classmates and grandmothers. It is obvious that all the children - participants of the project groups got to know each other, as well as many of the parents of the youngest participants. Let's hope that these new connections and new ideas will allow all participants to further develop their projects and storm new horizons of discovery! At present, following the results of the full-time round, nine network projects have been created on the competition website, in which any interested project team or author can take part throughout the year.
