The Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University was opened in 1993 in accordance with the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation (Moscow, 06/10/92), Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic (Bishkek, 09/28/92 .) and the Agreement between the Governments of the Kyrgyz Republic and Russian Federation on the conditions for the establishment and activities of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University (Bishkek, 09.09.1993), Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation (Moscow, No. 149 of 02.23.1994), Order No. 326-128 / 1 of February 14 .1994 Chairman of the State Committee of the Russian Federation for higher education and by order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic.
In 2004, by the Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, the university was named after the First President of the Russian Federation Boris Nikolaevich Yeltsin as a sign of special gratitude and respect for the huge personal contribution to the creation of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University. Throughout the years of its existence, KRSU has constantly maintained close contacts with the Yeltsin Foundation, which provides significant financial support in the form of nominal scholarships to 50 best students, helps to equip the university with modern educational equipment. With the assistance of the Yeltsin Foundation, student and school olympiads in the Russian language, international scientific and practical conferences on the preservation of a single educational space in the CIS. Due to the financial support of the Foundation, the university is provided with high-speed access to the global Internet.
In September 2008, during the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, a bronze bust of the First President of the Russian Federation B.N. Yeltsin was installed and inaugurated in the lobby of the main building.
University performs important role in the activation of educational, scientific and cultural cooperation between the CIS member states, the development of integration processes in the field of education and science, meeting the educational and cultural needs of Russian compatriots in Kyrgyzstan.
The Intergovernmental Agreement on the conditions for the activities of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, signed on April 30, 2008 in Moscow by the Ministers of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and the Kyrgyz Republic, determines the vector of development of the university for the coming years.
Currently, the university has 7 faculties, 88 departments, 6 research institutes, 15 scientific and educational centers, 4 problem laboratories, a legal clinic, a medical center, 25 aesthetic education studios for students. The total number of full-time employees and teaching staff is 2080 people (of which 132 are doctors of science and 416 are candidates of science), 20 doctoral students, 220 graduate students.
More than 9 thousand students study at the university, 624 of them are part-time students. In total, 3019 students study at the expense of the budget of the Russian Federation and the republican budget of the Kyrgyz Republic, including at the expense of the quota for compatriots and foreign citizens from the CIS - 128 people.
6245 people are trained under the contract form (with full reimbursement of expenses by individuals and legal entities).

Story
The Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University was opened in 1993 in accordance with the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation (Moscow, 06/10/92), Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic (Bishkek, 09/28/92 .) and the agreement between the governments of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation on the conditions for the establishment and activities of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University (Bishkek, 09.09.1993), Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation (Moscow, No. 149 dated 23.02.1994 ), by order No. 326-128/1 dated February 14, 1994, by the Chairman of the State Committee of the Russian Federation for Higher Education and by order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The first 200 students stepped onto the threshold of the university in 1993. In 1997, the first defenses of final bachelor's theses took place, and a year later, in 1998, the first defenses of graduation theses.

On September 26, a lecture by the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Tigran Sargsyan will be held at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University. The speech of the head of the EEC will be devoted to the results of the five-year work of the Eurasian Economic Union and Kyrgyzstan's membership in it. He will talk about the goals, immediate tasks, supranational bodies of this international organization, its formats international cooperation and the benefits of membership of the Kyrgyz Republic in it.
From August 31 to September 4, 2019, another annual congress European Society of Cardiology and World Congress of Cardiology. Over 32 thousand specialists from more than 150 countries of the world took part in the congresses, including a delegation from Kyrgyzstan, represented by members of the Department of Therapy No. 2 Faculty of Medicine KRSU headed by Professor I. In the new, newly built building of the middle educational school KRSU pass the first lessons. The classrooms in which classes for junior and senior classes are conducted are well equipped and spacious, and teachers emphasize high level equipping classrooms where students can fully study the disciplines provided for by the school curriculum.
The publishing house of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University for the first time presented its books at the 32nd Moscow International Book Fair (MIBF-2019), which opened on September 4. In total, representatives of 33 countries of the world participate in the book forum.

In total, 3421 students study at the expense of the state budget of the Russian Federation and the republican budget of the Kyrgyz Republic, including 780 students at the expense of the quota for compatriots and foreign citizens from the CIS.

Academic work KRSU based on educational standards Russian Federation and Kyrgyz Republic. Educational plans are agreed in the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic.
