The University was opened in 1993 in accordance with the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation (Moscow, 06/10/1992), Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic (Bishkek, 09/28/1992), Agreement between the Governments of the Kyrgyz Republic and Russian Federation on the conditions for the establishment and activities of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University (Bishkek, 09.09.1993), by the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation (Moscow, No. 149 of 02.23.1994), orders No. 326-128 / 1 of 02.14 .1994 Chairman of the State Committee of the Russian Federation for higher education and the Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The University has a perpetual license of the Federal Service for Supervision of Education and Science No. 0000310 ser. 90L01 dated August 16, 2012, reg. No. 0285 and certificate of state accreditation No. 0000809 ser. 90A01 (issued by the Federal Service for Supervision of Education and Science on July 19, 2013, reg. In 2003, the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin signed Decree No. 402-rp on declaring gratitude to the university staff for their great contribution to the development of Kyrgyz-Russian cooperation in the field of education. High mark activities of the university was given by the presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Russia in a joint statement following the official visit of the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin to the Kyrgyz Republic in September 2012: the parties note with satisfaction the effectiveness of the activities of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University in Bishkek as a major educational, scientific and cultural center of the Kyrgyz Republic and the entire Central Asian region.

Story
The Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University was opened in 1993 in accordance with the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation (Moscow, 06/10/92), Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic (Bishkek, 09/28/92 .) and the agreement between the governments of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation on the conditions for the establishment and activities of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University (Bishkek, 09.09.1993), Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation (Moscow, No. 149 dated 23.02.1994 ), by order No. 326-128/1 dated February 14, 1994, by the chairman of the State Committee of the Russian Federation for Higher Education and by order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The first 200 students stepped onto the threshold of the university in 1993. In 1997, the first defenses of final bachelor's theses took place, and a year later, in 1998, the first defenses of graduation theses.
In 2004, by decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, the university was named after the first President of the Russian Federation, Boris Nikolaevich Yeltsin, as a sign of special gratitude and respect for the huge personal contribution to the creation of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University. Throughout the years of its existence, KRSU has constantly maintained close contacts with the Yeltsin Foundation, which provides significant financial support in the form of nominal scholarships to 50 best students, helps to equip the university with modern educational equipment. With the assistance of the Yeltsin Foundation, student and school olympiads in the Russian language, international scientific and practical conferences on the preservation of a single educational space in the CIS. Due to the financial support of the Foundation, the university is provided with high-speed access to the global Internet.
In September 2008, during the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, a bronze bust of the first President of the Russian Federation B. N. Yeltsin was installed and inaugurated in the lobby of the main building.

The Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University was opened in 1993 in accordance with the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation and the Agreement between the Governments of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation on the conditions for the establishment and activities of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University. University performs important role in the activation of educational, scientific and cultural cooperation of the CIS member states, the development of integration processes in the field of education and science, meeting the educational and cultural needs of Russian compatriots in Kyrgyzstan.
Currently, the university has 7 faculties, 88 departments, 6 research institutes, 15 scientific and educational centers, 4 problem laboratories, a legal clinic, a medical center, 25 studios for aesthetic education of students. The total number of full-time employees and teaching staff is 2,080 people (of which 132 are doctors of science and 416 are candidates of science).
More than 9,000 students study at the university, 624 of them are part-time students. In total, 3,019 students study at the expense of the budget of the Russian Federation and the republican budget of the Kyrgyz Republic, including at the expense of the quota for compatriots and foreign citizens from the CIS - 128 people.
The university implements a multi-level education system: bachelor's, specialist's, master's, internship, residency, postgraduate, doctoral studies.
In 2016/17 academic year according to the current licenses, the university implements 50 educational programs VPO, including 31 - in the direction of training bachelors, 7 - in the direction of training masters, 6 - training of specialists; FVE programs, 108 postgraduate professional education programs: PhD - 64 scientific specialties within 22 areas of training, 40 residency specialties, 7 internship specialties.
In 2016, the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University topped the ranking among state universities of the Kyrgyz Republic in terms of "Educational activities".
Quantity scientific projects according to the programs of the Federal Agency for Education, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic in different years is from 40 to 70 topics. Actively conducted scientific work under international grants from various foundations: ISTC, UNDP, INTAS, UNESCO, UNEP, Aga Khan Foundation, Ebert Foundation, World Bank, Willis Global Fund, etc.
