In what cases does the voice tremble? What to do if your voice is shaking? How to quickly overcome anxiety before public speaking
Those who speak with a shaky voice often become upset and nervous. They constantly worry about what others will think of them or what might happen to them. Note that tremors in the voice also appear in people taking psychotropic drugs to maintain their mood, so it is so important to be careful and not confuse those who are nervous with those who are simply taking medication.
Often people with trembling voices are afraid of life. They are cautious and do not like to make decisions because they are too worried about the consequences of any action. They can be neurasthenic and endlessly worry about what someone said to someone, and in fear of what will happen now. Too preoccupied with their future, they deprive themselves of the present and give in to the surprises that life presents to them. They do not feel solid ground under their feet, which is manifested in their trembling voice, and are not able to overcome life’s many adversities with dignity.
When such a person finds himself in a difficult situation, his face often becomes covered with red spots or turns purple. The vocal muscles tense and the voice begins to tremble. He is overcome by fear and desperately wants to please and gain approval.
My client Chelsea and I worked a lot on her psychological problems. She needed the approval of others and this was because her father never approved of anything she did. Having stopped obsessing over the opinions of others about her, Chelsea for the first time managed to relax her throat muscles, including her vocal muscles, and began to speak completely calmly. Having achieved this result, she noticed that people began to communicate with her much more willingly and they began to enjoy her company more. People started smiling at Chelsea and didn't look so tense anymore.
People who “pressure” you with their voice are often irritable, unfriendly and competitive. The aggressive nature of their communication style is evident in the periodic raising of their voice during conversation. It is as if they are constantly overwhelmed by hostility and are firing machine guns of hatred or anger at their interlocutor. These inappropriate, sudden outbursts unnerve their interlocutor, who regards these frantic vocal attacks as irrelevant to the subject under discussion.
The verbal machine-gun fire of such a vocal aggressor during a simple discussion of an issue - for example, what people did on the weekend - creates the impression that he was on the battlefield these days and experienced God knows what, although in fact he was well rested. However, the irritation and hostility that overwhelmed these people left their mark on their tone.
They constantly see others as rivals and are always, even in the simplest conversation, looking for a way to “beat” their opponent (which could be anyone they are talking to). Therefore, in order to be heard, they must be the first to verbally attack the interlocutor. This gives them the feeling that they have achieved a winning advantage.
3. Nasal whiners who move their jaws
People who speak in a nasal, whiny voice are rarely taken seriously. They are often unfairly characterized as not being very smart and not taking into account those around them. Because of their annoying voice, they seem obnoxious and constantly complaining about something - however, in most cases this is what happens. The voice reflects their inner dissatisfaction. A Gallup poll found this voice feature to be one of the seven most annoying, with nearly 70 percent of respondents finding it downright off-putting.
Nasal whiners talk as if they need something from you or as if something, in their opinion, is being done wrong. They often become the object of ridicule from others, so in conversation they usually defend themselves and attack unnecessarily, or, if they have learned to laugh at themselves, they play up the peculiarity of their voice, using it as an advantage. Judy Hollyday, Edith Bunker (All in the Family) and Fran Drescher (The Nun) have made careers out of their nasal, whiny voices.
Whiners usually make others laugh. I myself laughed at first when Fran Drescher came into my office and asked me to help her get rid of her pronounced Queens twang. I even decided that someone was playing a prank on me and it was for this purpose that they sent a lady with a hilarious voice to me. In the middle of our lesson, I asked Fran to finally stop pretending and admit who sent her. She responded by telling me that this was her normal way of speaking and that her manager, Elaine Rich, had sent her.
Fran and I worked on her speech for a long time and finally succeeded. The trouble was that with her new, non-nagging voice, she couldn’t get any work in Hollywood, so she returned to her nasal pronunciation and, starring in TV series, earned millions.
One evening at a social reception, I heard a man speaking in a very rude and hoarse voice, and I was unpleasantly surprised. My first thought was that he must be difficult to deal with. Later I found out that he was a very difficult person whom no one loved. I heard several of his colleagues tell some rather unpleasant stories about him. Apparently, he was an irritable bully who always insists on his own. I see, I told myself. He is rude and ignorant, aggressive, domineering and despotic.
Dianne had a new man in her life, and she wanted me to listen to the message he left on her answering machine. He asked Dianne out on a date, but she had some doubts about him. She didn't know what exactly was bothering her, she just had a strange feeling. Hearing his voice, I was able to explain why. The voice sounded rough, hoarse and simply grated on the ears. The man used various endearing words, such as “darling” and “baby,” but it was still very unpleasant to listen to him. Diann asked what impression he made on me.
I replied that judging by the way the man spoke, he was very irritable and most likely he was a domineering, despotic type and a bully. “Well, of course! - Dianne exclaimed. - That's how it is! That's why I don't want to see him. He's ignorant. He is rude to waiters, his children and even me. He gets irritated easily and complains endlessly about his partner, ex-wife and children. Frankly, I'm fed up with him. And then, he must always be right! And don’t feed him bread, just give him someone to lead.”
Everything became clearer in Dianne's head. She realized that this man was not suitable for her at all. This type of character is formed in childhood. Informal research conducted in several preschool institutions And primary schools, showed that children who speak rudely and unceremoniously are considered very irritable by teachers and look at them as hooligans who terrorize the entire class. It also turned out that these are the children their peers dislike the most.
When people speak in such a deliberately sexual and particularly breathy voice, purring seductively, rest assured: they are just playing with you, and this is especially unpleasant if you hear that, after finishing a conversation with you, they immediately address other people in a similar manner . All this looks insincere, offensive and indicates a desire to manipulate interlocutors. These people believe that they can “seduce” another person into doing whatever they want. They think too highly of themselves and consider it possible to play with others. Those who speak in a breathy voice are not taken seriously. Susan Hayden Elgin, a linguistics professor at the University of San Diego, writes that they are considered untrustworthy.
You will immediately feel the falseness in these sexually speaking personalities when you hear that they maintained their tone, even after realizing that they were not successful with the one they were trying to seduce. Watch how their voice immediately becomes normal as soon as they realize that they are unable to get the desired response from anyone.
A dentist I know hired a woman with such a sensual voice to work in his waiting room. He hoped that her presence would help improve his image, but in reality the woman only harmed him. His patients did not like the new employee at all. They simply did not believe in her competence and tried to make an appointment with a doctor other than her. They also did not trust that she knew how to properly handle their insurance documents and bills.
A number of studies have shown that aspirated speech sounds unconvincing and lacks credibility. This was another reason why the woman in the dentist's waiting room made such a bad impression on everyone.
6. Speaking like a crazy person
Alice speaks a hundred words a minute, just scribbling like a machine gun. She brings her interlocutor to complete exhaustion and is always in a state of mental crisis. Life for her is a continuous roller coaster. Either she lost her cat, or Alice is waiting for you because she can’t get a taxi, or she lost her checkbook, or she left important documents at the bank.
Something always happens to her, and Alice tells you about it, trying to amaze you with information on the spot. At first she seems charming and sweet, interesting and attractive; you may even be looking forward to many adventures in Wonderland with her. But this constant style of communication “point-blank” quickly becomes boring to the one who is “on the other end of the line” and at the same time reveals all the ins and outs of the one who speaks to him like that.
This type of people likes to suppress their interlocutor, control and always have his attention. God forbid you ever try to turn the conversation on yourself and discuss at least some of your own problems. Rest assured that she will not show you even a fraction of the concern that you showed her, and most likely one of two things will happen: Alice will talk about her problems again or, if you stubbornly continue to talk about yours, she will attack you with reproaches . Your affairs, in her opinion, cannot interest anyone.
Alice showed Donna no sympathy and barely allowed her to say anything. This drove Donna crazy and she let her emotions run wild. There was a terrible argument during which Alice accused Donna of being selfish and only thinking about herself, while she, Alice, was "trying so hard to help her."
These people are usually uncontrollable, love to manipulate others and are very selfish. When we're talking about not about them, nothing touches them. They do not recognize relationships as equals. And it is very likely that they have serious psychological and mental problems for which they should consult a specialist.
Scientists who have studied the relationship between voice and emotion have found that speakers at this rate are usually in a state of irritation. They constantly act as if someone has upset them or they are in conflict with someone. Their fighting manner of scribbling like a machine gun may also be associated with the phenomenon of “compressed” speech, which is often observed in people with bipolar disorder if this disorder is not compensated. Therefore, it is necessary to understand that the balance of chemicals in the body of people who talk in this way may be disturbed.
This does not mean that everyone who talks incessantly suffers from bipolar disorder. The positive side of this manner of speech is that with its help a person easily captivates his listeners. He forces them to support his project or take part in it. Such people are able to ignite the public and awaken their interest in almost any undertaking. They are always very interesting to watch because they seem to have endless energy and are enthusiastic about everything they do.
The problem is this: they don't mean what they're saying, and they make plans that you may not like or can afford. So be careful and beware that you don't get sucked into something you don't want.
7. Talking too fast
These people are very nervous, restless, and maybe even irritable. Research has shown that they tend to lack self-confidence and suffer from low self-esteem. That is why they subconsciously tend to rush and try to express everything that they have accumulated faster. This is mainly due to the fact that they believe that people are not interested in what they have to say. And if they had more self-respect, they would pause and others would better understand the meaning of what they communicated. "Gabrators" can also be Type A in nature, that is, they are assertive and ambitious people who usually speak quickly and aggressively.
Talking too fast is one of the eight most annoying speech habits; Over 65 percent of respondents in a Gallup poll felt very uncomfortable around people who spoke too quickly. And according to psychologists Dr. Matthew McKay and Dr. Martha David from the University of California at San Francisco, such people usually make others feel anxious.
Many people who talk too quickly were brought up in large families. In this they are similar to those who speak too loudly and who also needed to shout down their brothers and sisters. People who speak quickly try to get everything out before they are interrupted.
Research has also shown that people speak faster when they are angry. High competition between people in large families and major cities, perhaps, leads to the fact that they are more likely to experience stress and irritation, and this affects the speed of their speech.
Probably, many have encountered such a problem as trembling in the voice. I wonder why this happens? And sometimes it even becomes a stumbling block in communication, which gives rise to complexes. Let's look into this issue.
What can the voice tell you?
Using it you can determine character, recreate an image, and create a physiological and psychological picture of a person. The voice broadcasts to others about the current state of the individual. You can read a person's emotions by tone (anger, sadness, joy, jealousy, nervousness).
What does a trembling voice indicate?
There could be many reasons for this. And the main ones are excitement and fear, which, as a rule, are unfounded. But first, you still need to see a neurologist. You may then have to take antidepressants and visit a psychotherapist.
If during the examination (thyroid gland check, blood test) doctors did not identify a physiological cause, most likely it is necessary to work with the psyche. If the trembling in the voice increases with excitement, we are talking about an anxiety disorder.
Why is this happening?
There is an explanation from a physiological point of view. The point is adrenaline, which in a stressful state begins to be produced in huge doses. A person suffering from increased anxiety can become agitated by anything, for example:
- at school when called to the board;
- from communicating with strangers, as well as powerful and high-ranking people;
- upcoming presentation to the public;
- in dialogue with a loved one and so on.
Let's talk about fear of communication
Now let’s find out why the voice trembles when speaking. It often happens that before the upcoming dialogue, the opponent begins to experience panic attacks. It seems that the words spoken will be ridiculous and will cause laughter or reproach. It’s easier to just step into the shadows and remain silent, but this is not an option. If this phenomenon is extremely rare, then there is no need to worry, it can be attributed to a bad mood. When this is repeated systematically, and a work call on the phone becomes a disaster, you need to think about it.
To understand why your voice trembles, you need to find the root of the problem. Of course, a defense mechanism is triggered. Perhaps you have been severely insulted or humiliated in the past. And then a thought formed in your subconscious: why communicate with people if it causes pain. Therefore, it turns out that you are protecting yourself. And this happens unconsciously, and this is not good.
It is necessary to understand that without communication it is impossible to achieve high goals, even just to live normally. After all, for a happy life you need a prestigious, highly paid job, a family that needs to be created, and so on. Only after realizing this truth can you move on, look for existing phobias and get rid of them.
Let's consider the reasons
- Critics. But this is not about healthy criticism. When it is harsh and rude, not only shortcomings are pointed out, but there is also exaggeration and exposure to everyone, and it is extremely difficult to bear such pressure.
- Bullying. This rather refers to school age when a child is humiliated. Then he withdraws, closes himself off from everyone, fearing ridicule.
- Inability to build a dialogue with the opposite sex. For girls, this could have been due to the upbringing of a strict and despotic father; for boys, it was the opposite.
- Unsuccessful performance in the past. Never mark time. Everyone needs to analyze the situation, learn what is useful and move forward. This does not mean that the mistake will happen again.
- Shyness. Shyness gets in the way. But everything is good in moderation. Of course, but it’s better to be more relaxed, you need to raise your self-esteem.
- Inability to formulate thoughts. Everything is simple here: you need to improve yourself, read more, master techniques and practical recommendations that will help you learn how to properly organize your thoughts and speech.
Often psychological trauma stems from virginity; the main thing is to understand this and try to eliminate the problem. If you can’t do it yourself, contact a specialist.
- It is necessary to establish eye contact. Start small, communicate first through social networks, go shopping, for example, talk to sellers.
- If it is difficult to communicate with your opponent in person, talk to him on the phone.
- And gradually switch to live dialogue. Try making requests to strangers.
The fear of communication must be overcome, because otherwise it will not be possible to socialize and develop normally.
How to overcome the fear of communication?
- You should not model the upcoming outcome of an event, especially in a negative way. This will not solve the problem, but will only make it worse.
- Don't worry about the opinions of others. If they think about something, it is not for long, for a few minutes. Think about how much you remember the faces of people passing by on the street or giving a report at the pulpit, if they are not celebrities. Literally five minutes, no more. So your mistakes are also quickly forgotten.
- Don't be afraid of dialogue. Make homework that will help in communication; it won’t be useful later.
- Look closely at your opponent, his gestures, facial expressions; perhaps he is not very interested in you, so you should not worry.
- Don't focus on your fear. If panic attacks begin to creep up, abstract yourself from anything: the taste of coffee, a beautiful cup, an accessory on your interlocutor, and so on.
You won’t get quick results, but don’t give up, everything will work out in the process of constant self-control and improvement.
How to quickly cope with anxiety before public speaking?
- Deep diaphragmatic breathing will help. It relieves unnecessary stress and anxiety. Take 20 breaths. But you must breathe with your stomach.
- Yawn. 10 times with your mouth closed and open. Feel free to make accompanying sounds.
- Switch to tactile sensations. An excellent technique that allows you to get rid of anxiety during a performance. When it starts to come up, take a regular paperclip in your hand; it is small, so it will be invisible. Feel, focus on the material from which it is made, what the surface is, the shape. Thus, attention switches to another object, and anxiety recedes. Now it doesn't matter what people think about you.
- Practice before your performance. Sing or read the text of the report loudly and with expression.
And of course, don't forget about good mood. When you radiate inner warmth and joy and smile, you will receive the same energy back. Imagine that they are sitting in front of you good people who wish happiness and then excitement and trembling in the voice will not appear.
Let's talk about the "grounding" technique
The main thing to remember is that you should not tell yourself “calm down”, this will not help, but will only increase your anxiety. When the panic attack has increased and you are unable to control yourself, look with your eyes for five things that you can see, four that you can touch, three that you can hear, two that you can smell and one that you can taste. This technique will bring you back to reality, sober you up and relieve you of anxiety and trembling in your voice.
And one more piece of advice to get rid of a panic attack, remember two truths:
- Don't be afraid of her.
- And don't try to suppress.
That is, the release of adrenaline (the fear hormone) occurs within 90 seconds. The rest of the time you experience not a true phobia, but your “fear of fear.” You need to hold out for the first minute and a half, and then the panic attack will subside.
And the main thing is to understand that all fears are often invented by us. Improve yourself, learn self-control, and then you won’t have to deal with excitement and trembling in your voice.
In this issue I want to recommend you the film “The King’s Speech”! I think this film is a must watch for anyone who wants to develop their voice. And this film is especially urgently needed for those who experience problems with their voice (stuttering, fatigue, quietly inaudible sounds, breaking).
The film shows unique specialist in terms of voice - Lionel Logue, whose methodology is in many ways similar to the School’s methodology Natural Voice. And the most interesting thing is that this film is based on real events!
The Duke tried many times to study voice training with certified specialists, but to no avail. Until I met a unique person - Lionell Log, with a fundamentally different approach to voice development!
What was the main difference between Lionel Logue's approach to working on his voice and all the other certified specialists?
Why did Lionel's approach produce quick results, while Duke's many years of graduate training were wasted?
Because Lionel knew the root cause of voice problems. And he worked precisely on eliminating this cause, and did not engage in “pumping up”, “staging” or “training” the voice. 🙂
The main reason is FEAR! Fear of Expressing Yourself (Your Self) or making a mistake.
Whoever has less of this fear becomes more successful in life. adult life, and has a freer and fuller voice. Those who have more fear are less successful and have a more constricted and constricted voice.
To get rid of this fear, you should express yourself through sound. Express yourself through your voice.
As soon as you get rid of this fear, things that require self-expression will immediately improve! Namely – business, negotiations, career growth, relationships with the opposite sex, creativity. After all, all the main problems both in business and in relationships are due to the FEAR of expressing oneself, of proving oneself.
But, you must agree that objectively this is more long journeys. Through sound, through voice - you can remove this fear in a few days! 40 days on the Internet course are given with a reserve! 🙂
And when you already freely express yourself, then business, relationships and everything else works out easily and with pleasure! 🙂
By the way! Have you noticed how Lionel in the movie “The King’s Speech” quickly and easily removes this fear from the Duke for a few seconds? 🙂
He just puts on headphones with loud music on him. The Duke does not hear himself, and as a result, he is not afraid to make a mistake and express himself, does not engage in self-control and self-esteem.
By the way, long before this film we conducted a similar experiment with singers who had problems with their voices or intonation. They played a phonogram loudly through headphones (without the singer’s voice) and placed a microphone in front of the singer. The man sang without hearing his own voice at all! There was ONLY a soundtrack in the headphones. The singer knew about this in advance - so he completely relaxed and sang “as it happens.”
So what do you think? In this case, the singer’s voice sounded much freer and intonation CLEARER than when the singer heard himself and tried to sing clearly. Just loud music in his ears - they turned off his FEAR of making a mistake, faking or not singing a note. And as a result, everything worked out much better for him.
Therefore, when you do any voice exercises or sing songs, don’t be afraid to make a mistake or sing something wrong! Do all the exercises and sing all the songs freely, with DESIRE, cheerfully and truly! Don't judge yourself when doing this.
And that is why, at the first stage on the path to the “Revival of the Natural Voice”, we give the simplest exercises that are simply impossible to do incorrectly!
Just sound and that's it! And sing simple songs.
When you feel that you are free, the sound is easy and pleasant - you can move on to more complex exercises, songs and tasks.
The sounds of the human voice when singing usually do not stretch smoothly, but are decomposed into a series individual parts, each of which is accompanied by pulsating amplification. Following quickly after each other, they cause a phenomenon in sound called voice vibration. In moderation, the existing vibrations in the singing voice give it beauty, sometimes softening the existing shortcomings. Thanks to this and the positive role that vibration plays in full-fledged sound formation, it can be considered a necessary and important condition for singing sound. But for a number of singers, vibration is replaced by a negative phenomenon in the presentation of the singing sound, which is called “tremolding” of the voice. Those voices where there is vibration, either with a very large or small amplitude of vibration, are considered not worthy of attention in terms of performance.
While the physiologically legitimate vibration of the voice is, depending on the quality of vibration, the phenomenon that to a large extent decorates the voice, tremulous voice is an extreme and extremely painful disadvantage for the singer. Tremor is more often observed when singing in vocalists approaching the end of their singing work; but you can often encounter this phenomenon among young people who are just embarking on the path of vocal activity. From an acoustic point of view, voice tremulation is the same pulsating shocks of sound that follow one after another, but these explosive shocks turn out to be rough, without a smooth transition from one to another.
Vibration and tremor of the voice are phenomena of the same order, but with a completely opposite way of influence and perception by the ear of another person. As much as, as already mentioned above, vibration decorates the quality of the singing voice, which in the absence of vibration is sluggish and boring, so any tremor of the singing voice sharply worsens it. The more evenly the voice vibrates, the better this affects its quality. The best sound quality is considered to be at least six vibrations per second. A vibration frequency of less than four per second makes the voice already unpleasant.
Many guesses have been made about the true causes of voice tremors. They said that the essence of tremor lies in the oscillations of raising and lowering the sound while simultaneously strengthening and weakening it. Vibrations from tremolding are characterized by smaller fluctuations in the pitch and strength of the sound. It was believed that tremolding depends on the uneven functioning of the vocal cords.
We can state the fact that voice tremulation is a fairly common defect among vocalists, and if the voice tremulation is great, then it can be fatal for a given person, since it is pointless to engage in singing under such conditions, which will cause a negative reaction in the listener. Whether trembling of the voice represents a disease or simply a defect in vocal school, a final decision has not yet been made. It must be said that in those rare cases when a doctor or teacher manages to achieve a reduction or disappearance of tremolization, the result mostly does not last long due to constant returns to this manner of sound production. A phenomenon called “sound interference” can be considered applicable to explain what constitutes vibration and tremulousness of the voice. The following data is provided for explanation and proof.
In order for the simultaneous sound of two oscillating bodies to produce a continuous flow of sound, it is necessary that these two bodies be absolutely precisely tuned in unison. Thus, they must certain time give an absolutely exact quantity that matches the number oscillatory movements. With the slightest deviation from this requirement in one direction or another, interference must appear, and the final result is jitter.
Observation of the size and structure of the vocal cords, as of other paired organs of the human body, very often reveals their unequal size and location. Small deviations are more common than their complete coincidence. This property is not avoided by the vocal cords, which often differ in both their length and thickness. All our sense organs are not exactly the same on the right and left. A careful examination can always reveal some difference in the accuracy, power of perception and functioning of the organs of both sides. This phenomenon fully applies to the functions of the vocal cords and the undoubted difference in the simultaneous functioning of both of them.
Both vocal cords are not always exactly the same. In most cases, we encounter, although little noticeable, but still incomplete coincidence in the size and thickness of the vocal cords. The result is that one of them lags behind and does not sound completely in unison.
The law of acoustics states that when two bodies sound together, the lag of one of them by one vibration per second gives one vibration per second, and by two vibrations - two vibrations. That is why the combined sound of two not completely symmetrical vocal cords should produce a trembling sound. These worthy assumptions of Dr. Levidov were confirmed by stroboscopic observations. If two bodies, which differ from each other by a very small number of vibrations, are subjected to stroboscopic examination while they are vibrating, then when one of them appears completely motionless, the other will appear to be moving slowly. Further, if one body appears to be slowly oscillating, the other may at that time appear to be completely motionless.
The explanation for tremulous voice was especially convincing when, with natural vibration, stroboscopically it was not possible to establish the uneven functioning of the vocal cords. Definitely consistent results were obtained when examining individuals with tremulous voices. In these cases, a significant discrepancy between the vibrations of both vocal cords was clearly revealed.
This picture was even more pronounced in those singers who, in addition to tremolding phenomena, had nodules on one or both vocal cords.
Dr. Levidov proved his assumption by the fact that while singing he performed faradization of the larynx. Then, when making singing sounds, the nature of the tremulous voice changed and it began to resemble vibration. Then it became clear that during the phenomena of tremolization, the ligaments do not oscillate in the same period. Tremolation can result from unequal tension on the vocal cords.
All these studies and observations on the true cause of voice tremulus give quite good reason to believe that voice tremulus can be considered as a real functional disease that requires special treatment. So the view that tremulous voice is one of the types of incorrect production is not entirely justified.
It is known that there are cases when experienced singing teachers manage, after long and thorough voice training, to achieve some satisfactory results in reducing or weakening this defect. It is very rarely possible to achieve complete cessation of tremolding. Such phenomena only occur when the form of tremolization is very small and light. Then she can succumb to pedagogical influences.
Everyone knows that some disorders of the vocal apparatus can disappear after methodological classes on correct voice production begin.
It is also known that many disorders of the functions of the vocal apparatus are the result of a violation of the elementary attitudes required when practicing singing. This, on the one hand, and on the other hand, they can appear due to inept teaching and the wrong approach to certain inclinations and vocal material of this student. Although in some cases it is possible, through diligent and correct vocal training, to reduce or completely eliminate tremulousness of the voice, then it is in no way possible to change the nature of the physiological vibration of the voice. All attempts in this direction, as a rule, turn out negative, and even doing this is unnecessary violence against the voice. They can cause great and sometimes irreparable harm to those on whom these aimless experiments are performed.
The following fact seems interesting. Essentially, vibration and tremulous voice are different manifestations of the same acoustic phenomenon. Why do they produce a diametrically opposite impression on the ear? The pleasant effect of vibration on hearing is based on the positive perception of intermittent stimulation. On the contrary, continuous irritation tires the organ of hearing and thereby dulls its sensitivity. When the frequency of tremors becomes very significant, the ear does not have time to monitor each of them separately. The sound becomes unpleasant, acquiring a shrill and harsh roughness.
When comparing vibration and tremor, it turned out that the latter occurs at a slower pace. It is possible that this property of vibration is the main reason for the unpleasant effect of such a tremulous voice on the listener.
As mentioned earlier, vibration differs from tremolding not only quantitatively, but also qualitatively. When tremolding, the transition from one pulsation to another occurs without the gradualness and softness that occurs with vibration. This transition occurs abruptly, in jerks. The sound does not vibrate, but sways.
If we take just a superficial look at the history of the development of solo singing in Europe, we will see that its origins originate in Italy.
Each era puts forward new demands, poses questions of singing teaching methods in a new way - outstanding figures of vocal art from various European countries each resolve these issues in their own way.
Without dwelling on the various stages of development of solo singing, we will move on to practical issues related to vocal pedagogy.

6. Speaking like a crazy person
Alice speaks a hundred words a minute, just scribbling like a machine gun. She brings
interlocutor to the point of complete exhaustion and is always in a state of mental
crisis. Life for her is a continuous roller coaster. Then she lost her cat,
then Alice is waiting for you because she can’t get a taxi, then she lost her check
book, otherwise she left important documents at the bank.
Something always happens to her, and Alice tells you about it, trying to defeat
information on the spot. At first she seems charming and sweet, interesting and
attractive; you may even be looking forward to what you will experience with her
many adventures in wonderland. But this constant manner of communication is "point-blank"

These people are very nervous, restless, and maybe even irritable.
Studies have shown that they usually lack self-confidence and suffer from low
self-esteem. That's why they subconsciously tend to rush and try

they think that people are not interested in what they have to say. What if

Since this tone can also be aching, you may also experience

In some sectors of society, a similar manner of speech is used to express

This is how prim, self-satisfied and very stern people usually talk, to whom

Such people are much more irritable, tend to judge others and love

sometimes they have a sense of humor, the former usually lack it.
Award-winning actress Nina Foch once said that while working with
actor or actress before filming, the first question she asks is when
sees their motionless lower jaw, this: “Which of your parents are you like?
are you angry and why?" Young people are often shocked,
defensive and deny that there is anything wrong with them, but
subsequently, with tears in their eyes, they admit that there are still problems. Sometimes
they even begin to cry, giving vent to years of accumulated and suppressed

sometimes gives rise to a feeling of resentment, and this is especially likely if you repeatedly

create the ground for various misunderstandings, because people who say
in an absolutely non-emotional tone, it is often difficult to convey
others your thought. Their interlocutors are simply deprived of the ability to capture the subtlest
nuances of intonation that give a particular message a special meaning.

was the owner of a rapidly growing company, and his main problem was

But this conversation he overheard opened his eyes, and he realized that it was all about

People who speak in a dull and lifeless tone tend to annoy others. You
you can’t reach them, and they deprive you of strength, because you are not with them

When you are around such people, you try to speak more animatedly so that

usually feel particularly empty, worried that you have been rejected, and very
get angry.
If someone you know used to always talk with enthusiasm and
something is wrong with him. And most likely this person is upset with you or
because of what happened to him, or he is simply experiencing depression.
Your communication with a boring, listless bore, as a rule, has a secret subtext
hostility, because such people irritate others. Usually they
can be very passive-aggressive because they hide some information and don’t
completely frank.
People who speak in a boring and lifeless voice are quite common
misunderstood, because they are not able to convey the true meaning to the interlocutor
their words, and sometimes they are even considered mean and dishonest.

14. Speaking too slowly
Like those who speak too quickly, people who speak too slowly often fail to
