FROM THE RED GUARD TO THE RED ARMY
– Defenders of the Fatherland Day traces its history back to the events of early 1918, when on February 23, young Red Army units defeated the German troops near Narva and Pskov. And what was happening in the Belarusian lands at that time?

Already at the end of October 1917, the 1st named after the Minsk Soviet revolutionary regiment of the Red Guard was created in Minsk, which marked the beginning of the creation of the Red Guard forces in Belarus.
