His face and eyes, overgrown with hair and pitted with mountain ash, are barely visible because of thick, hanging eyebrows ... There is a whole hat of long unkempt, tangled hair on his head ... He is barefoot.)

People are dying because of real intruders and intruders out of stupidity!
Another hero of the story belongs to the “those in power”, he represents the state and the law.

Issues and artistic features story "Intruder".
The name of the humorous story "The Intruder" immediately sets one in doubt that it will be about a real intruder. And so it turns out. There is not a shadow of malicious intent in the actions of the peasant Denis Grigoriev, in fact, the comic of the situation is manifested in the clash of two worlds: a civilization that cut the natural world with railroads, and the peasantry living an eternal natural life. This is where misunderstanding arises, since the investigator, accusing the peasant of criminal acts, does not doubt the obviousness of the offense and his guilt. The peasant, diligently listening to the investigator, does not understand how he cannot understand that fishing weights are needed for tackle.
It may seem that misunderstanding is due to the stupidity and ignorance of the peasant. This is not true at all. Of course, the peasant Denis Grigoriev is an uneducated person, but at those moments when something similar to a dialogue arises between him and the investigator, he casually, as a matter of course, explains to the “stupid” investigator: “We understand this ... We don’t unscrew everything ... we leave ... we do not go crazy ... we understand ...
Note that both - the investigator and the peasant - are trying to overcome the misunderstanding between themselves: the investigator is trying to “on his fingers” explain that the trains are derailing and cause the peasant to reason or at least react on this matter, the peasant, in turn, tells in detail what kind of fish is found in the depths, and only shilishper can be hoped for, but it is not found in their waters.
The author gives the peasant the appearance of some kind of forester, overgrown and stern, in order to emphasize the impenetrability of his world. The judicial investigator is completely devoid of a portrait characteristic, apparently it is not needed, because he belongs to the world of modern civilization, erasing personality traits. At the beginning of the story, the peasant asks the investigator twice when he talks about nuts, as if leading the peasant to a confession, saying, it would seem, meaningless - "FAQ?" At first, we decide that the peasant is simply incredibly stupid, then, after looking closely and thinking, we understand what the purpose of these re-questions is: Chekhov, an unsurpassed master in depicting the psychology of personal and social communication, shows that the peasant, as it were, “goes towards” the investigator, helping him find clear words to establish contact.
Further, with the establishment of contact, the stimulating word “FAQ” is no longer required, but misunderstanding grows and the scene ends with the detention of the “criminal”, as the man says, “not in good conscience”, because he believes that he was arrested for non-payment of arrears, which was not the case for him . So, if we argue from the position of the investigator and our common sense modern man, then the peasant Denis Grigoriev is hopelessly stupid, absolutely undeveloped, completely mired in an archaic world.
If you look at what is happening with his peasant eyes, then he must evaluate it in the following sequence: incomprehensible accusation, misunderstanding, confusion, unjust arrest. The nature of the comic in A.P. Chekhov's story "Intruder". Modern philologist-researcher of AD. Stepanov reveals the nature of the comic in "The Intruder", analyzing the features of communication between the characters reflected in the story.
The story recreates the "dialogue of the deaf": we have, in essence, two parallel series of statements with logical gaps between them, unable to enter into a dialogue. On the one hand, these are legal genres - interrogation, accusation, incrimination, etc., up to a quote from the Code of Punishments, and on the other hand, fishing instructions for beginners. The genres do not follow from each other, but only juxtapose, they have only a refrain in common - an event that has taken place, to which the speakers attribute opposite meanings.
In the case when the hero is firmly identified with only one role, Chekhov's texts speak of the incompatibility of the role-for-himself and the role-for-the-other. comic effect here it is generated by the fact that the hero does not understand his role in the eyes of the interlocutor and the reader: the "intruder" Denis Grigoriev does not understand his role as the defendant. The role-for-the-other in Chekhov's humoresques is often something imposed from the outside, superfluous and/or incomprehensible to the hero himself.
Chekhov's stories in the assessment of critics and literary critics. “The two main vices of the philistine soul seemed especially vile to Chekhov: desecration of the weak and self-humiliation before the strong” (Chukovsky). “Small strokes, sometimes in one word, draw both life and the situation so clearly that you are only surprised at this ability - to bring into one tiny focus all the necessary details, only the most necessary, and at the same time excite your feeling and wake up thought: really, look deeper into this investigator and into this peasant, because these are two worlds, cut off from one and the same life; both are Russians, both are not evil people in essence, and both do not understand each other.
Just think about this, and you will understand how deep the content is in this tiny story, set out on two and a half pages ”(L. E. Obolensky). “Another time I found a young, handsome comrade prosecutor at his place. He stood in front of Chekhov and, shaking his curly head, said briskly: With the story "Intruder," you, Anton Pavlovich, put before me extremely complex issue. If I recognize in Denis Grigoriev the presence of an evil will that acted consciously, I must, without reservation, put Denis in prison, as the interests of society require. But he is a savage, he did not realize the criminality of his deed, I feel sorry for him! If, however, I treat him as a subject who acted without understanding, and succumb to a feeling of compassion, how can I guarantee society that Denis will not unscrew the nuts on the rails again and will not cause a crash? Here is the question! How to be?
He fell silent, threw his body back and stared into Anton Pavlovich's face with a searching look. His uniform was brand new, and the buttons on his chest shone as self-confidently and stupidly as the eyes on the clean face of a young zealot for justice. If I were a judge,” Anton Pavlovich said seriously, “I would acquit Denis… On what grounds? I would have told him: “You, Denis, have not yet matured to the type of a conscious criminal, go and mature!” The lawyer laughed, but immediately became solemnly serious again and continued: No, dear Anton Pavlovich, the question you have raised can only be resolved in the interests of society, whose life and property I am called upon to protect. Denis is a savage, yes, but he is a criminal, that's the truth!
Do you like the gramophone? Anton Pavlovich suddenly asked affectionately. Oh yeah! Highly! Amazing invention! the young man responded briskly. And I can’t stand gramophones!” Anton Pavlovich admitted sadly. Why? Yes, they speak and sing without feeling anything. And everything turns out caricatured, dead ... Having seen off the young man, Anton Pavlovich said gloomily: These are some pimples on ... the seat of justice - they control the fate of people ”(M Gorky). “Laughing at order, with blunt mechanical force, dividing people into categories, putting some in semi-slavish dependence on others ... Chekhov sadly recalls forgotten human dignity” (Z. I. Paperny). “Tolstoy, praising his stories, said that with him every detail is “either necessary or beautiful,” but Chekhov himself does not separate what is necessary and beautiful, there is identity between them” (Ya Weil, L. Genis).
5 / 5. 1
Humorous story by A.P. Chekhov's "Intruder" was first published in 1885 and continued the author's series of ironic stories. The main problem that Chekhov considers in his work is the class contradictions between peasants and masters in Russia at that time. The main idea of the story is to reveal the problem of negligence, which has always, in any historical era, been so characteristic of our country. Is the Russian peasant to blame for being poor, despite the fact that he works tirelessly. And is he such a terrible criminal if, in search of a livelihood, he pulls nuts out of railway to make nets and then sell them? Of course, this act is worthy of censure and all kinds of condemnation, because because of this trains go off the rails and people die. But is this unfortunate peasant so guilty as to call him a criminal? Who is to blame for this situation?
Reading the story, you do not feel contempt or hatred for Denis, because he had no intention to harm people. Before the court, he appears barefoot, he has no money to buy himself even the cheapest shoes. Is it his fault that he earns his own living? After all, he never had a desire to kill people.
In the story, the author clearly formulates the problem of who is the true culprit of the neglect of the lives of innocent people. From the plot it becomes clear who Chekhov calls the real attacker. After all, anyone who agrees to buy tackle made by village peasants understands perfectly well what consequences such an occupation can lead to. But they prefer to remain silent and continue to buy nets with nuts from the railway. They do not care about the fate of people who can die at any moment and who do not know what fate is prepared for them with the light hand of enterprising gentlemen.
The story "Intruder" can be safely attributed to the direction of realism, since it reflects the picture of the Russian reality of that time. The work has an unusual structure, since it does not have an introduction and an ending. The outcome of the trial remains unknown. The author would like the reader to draw their own conclusions and make their own verdict.
Analysis 2
A wonderful writer who once said: “brevity is the sister of talent”, an experienced doctor, an excellent person by nature - Anton Pavlovich Chekhov - often raises the problem in his works “ little man". The story "The Intruder" is no exception, because in it Chekhov continues to reveal the complexities and difficulties of Russian life, different views of people on one thing. It was written in 1885 and published in the Petersburg newspaper.
The work "Intruder" evokes after reading both gaiety and sadness. Laughter comes from the situation that occurs in the book: people discussing one thing look and talk about the incident in their own way. The hero, whose name is Denis Grigoriev, is brought to trial. He was guilty and was caught for his act: he unscrewed the bolts that hold the rails, the train passes. The judge argues that such an action is not healthy, since people on the train could be injured, the rails have the ability to move from their specific position if they are deprived of such support as bolts. Grigoriev denies his guilt, because he believes that this action was committed only because of the plight of the hero. On the one hand, the judge has his own truth: the defendant is guilty of stealing the accessories with which the rails are attached. Death could take many lives with it if the train deviated and went off course. But on the other hand: Denis Grigoriev tried to survive. The country is in a terribly tragic situation, due to which there are no means of subsistence. This is the problem, because theft begins when the government limits the people in something they need.
What brings melancholy and despondency after reading the story? The case lies in the lack of education of the defendant. He doesn't realize the harm he could have done to so many people. Losses would be incalculable, but the hero cannot understand this fact. It's sad that the obvious things are not represented by the character. When it is revealed to him that he is guilty, he only asks the question: “for what?” It is really scary when a person is not able to realize: what is his offense. It seems so accessible and permissible for him to perform a certain action that he forgets about the negative impact on others. And this is a tragedy!
Denis Grigoriev, being on trial, is trying to convey to the investigator that his deed is thought out to the smallest detail, that the character does everything “with his head”. However, the essence of the hero is immediately revealed. Defending their rights, like peasants in historical time, it becomes clear that anything should be expected from the hero, his steps will be completely unpredictable, because the character only cares about his own interests, and the benefit that he can take out of this or that act. Denis Grigoriev is worried about how he will live on, on what means he will be able to exist. Therefore, it is not surprising that he goes beyond what is permitted. A hero of such a nature, he cannot be remade.
In addition to the fact that Anton Pavlovich draws the attention of readers to the authorities, which made a crowd out of the people, forcing them to blindly follow the leader, the writer points out to us the negligence and recklessness of people who, pretending to be "fools", dream of finding a way out of the current predicament. Doesn't this happen in our lives right now?

- Composition based on the work Virgin Soil Upturned by Sholokhov
This magnificent work tells a story full of human grief, which is very difficult to talk about, since all the horrors that touched that era actually happened.
The story "Intruder" was first published in the summer of 1885 in the "Petersburg newspaper". It got the attention of the readers. Leo Tolstoy even included him in his personal list the best works. Later story included in the collection, called "Motley Stories". The plot is based on a real event. The prototype for the protagonist of this work was a peasant from the Moscow province Nikita Pantyukhin.
Denis Grigoriev- a peasant. " A skinny little man in a mottled shirt and patched trousers". It can be seen that because of need and poverty, he fell ill with smallpox. A face "eaten by rowans". AT late XVIII century, the Russian village suffered from malnutrition. And the peasants survived as best they could. The men, including Gregory, were engaged in fishing. Grigoriev was illiterate, and everything that the investigator told him reached his consciousness slowly. He asked frequently. He could not understand with his peasant mind that unscrewing the nuts could lead to disaster.
Investigator - tries to be fair, but sees terrorism and an attempt on people's lives in loosening the screws. He does not believe that men make weights out of nuts. The investigator recalls that a train derailed a year ago and begins to understand why this happened.
The story ends with Denis Grigoriev being taken to prison. It's been a hundred since extra years, and in Rus' they still steal everything that is "badly lying." Now they got the hang of removing electric wires, taking fences off cemeteries. The story has not lost its relevance, and will continue to interest and excite the reader for a long time.
Initially, the publisher of Chekhov's story "Intruder" was the "Petersburg newspaper" - it was there that this work appeared in the summer of 1885. This story was a continuation of the line of miniatures, famous topics that encourage the reader to "laugh through the tears". Now we will do brief analysis story "Intruder" by Chekhov, which is small in volume, but very informative in idea and problematics.
The plot of the story
Before briefly considering the plot of the story, we note that thanks to this work we better understand what kind of relations developed at that time between the peasants and the ruling class, and their problems.
So, main character of the story "Intruder", the analysis of which we are conducting, is answering in court. His name is Denis Grigoriev, he is dressed very simply, like a peasant, and stands barefoot. And despite the fact that his mind is not sharp, Grigoriev is ready to assert and prove his innocence. What is he accused of?
This simple man was only trying to unscrew the nuts from the railroad tracks to make weights for the seine. It turns out that the net itself does not sink, and accordingly, it is very difficult for them to catch fish. What does the court say? Of course, it is difficult for the judge to accept such arguments, and he explains to Grigoriev that because of the unscrewed nuts, a train crash can occur and then people will die. But Denis Grigoriev assures the judge that he could not have such intent, the whole thing is in the net.
And it soon becomes clear that Grigoriev is not alone. Almost the entire village of peasants does the same, and moreover, gentlemen buy ready-made nets from them. What can a judge do? He orders the peasant to be sent back to the cell, and there is no limit to Grigoriev's surprise, they say, how is it, why?
Analysis of the story "Intruder" - the idea of \u200b\u200bthe work
Chekhov in his work shows well the negligence of a Russian person, which has been and remains an eternal problem. But whose fault is it that the village peasants have to unscrew the nuts from the rails, and the result of such acts is a train crash? Of course, when we read the story and analyze it, it is clearly seen that the main character has no malicious intent to destroy people. For example, it was not without reason that Chekhov presented Grigoriev as barefoot - this is a poor peasant, and he feeds only thanks to this net.
Therefore, having looked at the problem not with a superficial glance, but deeply, we understand who is really to blame for this situation. That is, the attacker is not a village peasant. This is what becomes clear from an analysis of the story "The Intruder": ordinary peasants make nets with nuts, and they are encouraged to do so by the gentlemen who willingly buy these products. Is it really not clear to the gentlemen where the nuts on fishing tackle come from? All of them perfectly understand, but prefer to remain silent.
A feature of the work we are considering is its realistic orientation, because Chekhov described what actually happened in Russia at the end of the 19th century. We will not omit another important detail of the analysis of the story "The Intruder". Its composition is such that the author, as it were, pulls out a moment from the ongoing events - this is the trial of Grigoriev. But we do not know the beginning of this story, nor its end. And Chekhov does not report on the verdict, from which the conclusion follows that the author leaves it to the discretion of the reader.
So, summing up, we can say that the work raises one of the acute problems Russian society- negligence and its real culprits.
