What does it mean to be merciful? (essay-reasoning). Mercy - what is it? Mercy, justice and compassion What you need to do to become merciful
It's not always easy to be kind in a world that can get frustrating quickly, but if you make the effort to have more mercy in your daily life, you can start to change for the better. Here's how to do it.
Part 1 of 3: Be Kind to Others
1. Thank people for their efforts. One of the most important qualities of a merciful person is the ability to thank people for their efforts, no matter how big or small they are. Even if a colleague is just calling you to say something, thank them for their efforts. If a friend grabs your coffee or reminds you that your favorite show is up later, say "thank you" to them.
A big part of being kind is being able to appreciate what people do for you. How do you show your appreciation? You say "thank you".
2. Be a good listener. Merciful people don't focus on their problems, they care more about other people. Make an effort to really hear what the person is saying to you. Don't interrupt people and keep your questions to the end so that the person can finish, let him feel that you really care about him.
Don't forget the details of what the person says so you can come back to them later. If someone mentions that his sister just had a baby girl, the next time you see him, you can ask how his little niece is doing; the person will be pleasantly surprised that you remember this.
Show empathy. If the person is upset, you can say, “I can't imagine what you've been through. It must be so difficult because…” Let the person see that you really heard what he told you.
3. Pay attention to others. Being merciful means paying attention to people in social situations. Instead of worrying about who to talk to or what to say next, you should monitor other people's feelings and moods to see if they are worried or anxious and understand how they interact with each other. It is important to notice what they think and others feel.
A merciful person understands that other people are just as important as he is. That is why it is so important to pay attention to them.
4. Give people the benefit of the doubt. Merciful people do not look for ways to humiliate a person, criticize him or make him feel like a small fry. They do exactly the opposite. Even if they are unsure of a person's intentions, they try to stick to positive things and imagine that people also want the best for everyone. Instead of gossiping or saying something negative about a person you don't know, imagine that they are a good person, just like you.
If you get in the habit of doing this, you'll have a kind of reputation for being a charitable person rather than a banal gossip, and people will want to spend even more time with you.
5. Compliment others. Merciful people always look for the good in people and therefore invest in making others feel good. Not because it will make people "bigger", but in the most direct, genuine way, it will make them want to trust you in return. Look around. Compliment not only the most obvious things, but also the things that people work hard at.
If you don't feel like giving a compliment, don't do it just to appear nice. But if you make a habit of praising people, you'll be better able to navigate the moments when people really deserve a compliment.
6. Have mercy instead of victory. If you want to be charitable, then remember that it is more important for everyone to be happy than for you to be right. Instead of proving your point, arguing with the person next to you (even if you're sure you're right), you should be kind to them, change the subject, or say something like, "I think we should just agree." . Swallowing your pride may not be fun, but no one argues that this is the only way to look good. There's nothing merciful about that, is there?
If you really have a desire to argue with someone or correct him, just consider reverse order ten and tell yourself that it's really worth it. What will you get from this?
7. Let other people talk. Do you really have to post everything that's on your mind all the time? Most likely, others also have something to say. If you and someone else start talking at the same time, insist that your competitor be first. Ask lots of questions instead of talking about yourself and show that you are really interested in people. This does not mean that you need to turn into a shy quiet person if that is not who you really are. It simply means that you should let other people do the talking instead of being the center of the conversation.
If two people are arguing in front of you, please change the subject.
8. Let others be first. To be merciful is to say "after you" in the literal and figurative sense. If you want to be charitable, you must give someone else the right to order ice cream before you decide to kill your chocolate craving, or else you let the car turn around in front of you.
This does not mean that you should let people walk in front of you all the time. This means that you must give in to others when it is reasonable.
Part 2 of 3: Developing Compassionate Qualities
1. Be humble. Merciful people are always humble. They don't brag about how big or showy they are; instead, they act modestly and wait for other people to celebrate their accomplishments. They do not attract everyone's attention to themselves, they tremble before the big and complex world and they don't walk into the room like they own the place. If you want to be humble, then just be and don't brag about it.
Always trust other people. If someone says that you did a great job on a project, say that you couldn't have done it without the help of your other colleagues.
2. Be respectful. Treat other people with kindness and respect, even if they don't always deserve it. Be punctual if you said you were going to be somewhere in certain time. Hold the door for people. Don't text your friends or get distracted when you should be fully focused on the other person. Look straight in the eye, don't swear, and treat people kindly, regardless of their social status or their position.
Treat people with respect no matter what they can do for you.
3. Be tactful. This means not saying anything offensive, out of the ordinary, or just plain weird. Tactful people think before they speak, and are quite careful if they have to say something unpleasant, as if they were to tell a person that they have something stuck in their teeth. Understand what you are saying and also how you say it. This means that your comment may be misinterpreted due to your tone or the words you use.
Use tact. Use words so that they do not cause a stir. If you know you're walking with two people who have opposing views on the rule of the president, don't bring that topic up in the conversation.
4. Be generous. Generous people are capable of giving, whether it be their time, their money, or their love and kindness. Be the person who is always looking for a way to help others, whether we are talking about your closest friends or completely strangers who need help. Be generous with your time. Of course, helping a friend clean up the apartment will not be very pleasant, but he will appreciate your help, since he was overwhelmed by these dumps in the apartment after the divorce.
Being generous means acknowledging opportunities when you can help. Your sick friend may not say that he would be very happy if you brought him chicken soup for lunch, but that does not mean that he will not appreciate it.
5. Learn to accept compliments. It is important to receive compliments correctly if you really want to be charitable. Say "thank you" to people for their compliments and show how much their words mean to you. You shouldn't downplay them and say you don't deserve it; pretending to be overly modest can start to annoy people a little.
If you can return the compliment, that would be great.
6. Handle criticism appropriately. Merciful people know how to handle criticism, constructive or not. If the criticism is constructive, then you should see value in it, learn something from it, and make a plan to change or improve the quality you were criticized for. And if the criticism is only meant to offend you, you can let it roll down your back and be taller without saying something negative about the person in return.
7. Be grateful. Kind people act in their own way because they know how to count their blessings instead of focusing on the hardships they have to face. They know exactly what they should be grateful for, whether it be their health, their friends, their family, and/or their opportunities, and they never forget any of these things for a second.
If you really feel like you're in a dump somewhere, it will help to write a thank you list. It can include all the things you are grateful for, and you can add points to it whenever something happens to you. May you have time to read this list and smile. It can make you feel more grateful no matter how bad your day was.
Part 3 of 3: Do your best
1. Get involved in volunteering. Give your time to people who really need it. Do this at least once a week and see how much you can do for the people around you and how much they can change your life for the better. You have to do it voluntarily because you really feel the difference, how much kinder you become when you see the problems that others are having.
You will see that the people you help will help you as much as you help them. Volunteering can make you feel more grateful for all the benefits you have and give you a fresh perspective.
2. Do favors for other people. If you really want to be merciful, you must not only help your friends when they really need you; you should say thank you to them just because they were good friends or because you know they need a little cheer. Cook dinner for your friends, help with the laundry, or take your car to work when their car breaks down. Help your mom clean the floor. You will become more compassionate.
if you have a good relationship, you will receive some favor in return and you will feel happy.
3. Admit your mistakes. Merciful people know that they are not perfect and are willing to admit their shortcomings. Whether you said something hurtful to a friend or ruined something at work, it's important to acknowledge that you're not perfect and set yourself the goal of improving yourself next time. It is much more important to admit your shortcomings than to deny them in order to save face and look tough. Of course, it will be unpleasant, but you will be more kind, and people around you will respect you more if you admit your mistakes and apologize for them.
4. Write "thank you" on cards. Sending these cards to people is another great way to show your appreciation. Say "thank you" to your teachers, colleagues or others important people that improve your life and make it a habit. You don't even have to be so formal: thank your best friends, your significant other, or even your neighbors for helping you through a difficult time. Try sending at least one thank you card each month and you'll be even more aware of all the things you should be grateful for.
5. Show people that you really care about them. It makes people feel important. Get good marks to show teachers that you respect and follow them good rules learning. Follow your parent's advice on what to do and listen to their opinion. Do things that make you and other people feel great. They will feel important because you took the time to learn from them.
- Smile and appreciate everything around you.
- Offer to help younger siblings with their homework, comfort them when they're sad, or play with them when they're bored. They will appreciate it and will maintain a good relationship with you.
- Respect your friends. Your friends make you feel uplifted. Try your best to thank them or get together more often to get closer to them.
- If it's your parents' birthday, prepare a gift and a special card to show how much you care about them and that you took the time to put aside your business and celebrate their birthday.
Warnings
- If you ever fight with your parents, listen to their opinion and try to learn from your mistakes. Never yell or blame them for ruining your life.
- Never lie to get out of a situation. Do your job and let people know that you are an honest person. Be sure to tell the truth in every situation.
Lesson 13
You will learn:
How is mercy different from friendship?
- Who is called "neighbor"
Think for yourself first
1. How often have you heard the word in the title of our lesson?
2. Recall times in your life when you were merciful.
One of the most beautiful words in the world - the word mercy. It speaks of a heart that has mercy, loves and pities.
Love is different.
She is joyful. When meeting with a loved one, the face lights up with a smile and happiness.
But there is love with a tearful face. This is what happens when she meets someone else's misfortune. More precisely, love tells you: there is no other person's misfortune! A minute ago, this person was even unknown to you. But you found out about his grief - and could not remain indifferent.
If you see a hungry person, there is no need to evaluate him - whether he is “good” or “bad”. You need to feed the hungry simply because he is hungry, and not because he is your friend.
Once Jesus Christ was asked: what is the most important among the many commandments? He said: love for God and for man. "Love your neighbor as yourself." And then He was asked a difficult question: “Who is my neighbor?”. In fact, there is no person who would not love anyone. But a lot of people say: “I love those who love me, that is, my family and my friends. These are my neighbors (relatives)."
Christ answered the question put to Him with the parable of the Good Samaritan:
Robbers attacked a certain person, beat him and robbed him. Passers-by remained passers-by. They were passing by. Each of them, at the sight of a bloody man, told his conscience that he was in a hurry, that he had very important things ahead of him - and passed. But one visiting person, who did not even speak the local language very correctly, stopped. The wounded man froze. After all, quite recently he and his friends played an unkind joke on this visitor. Will he really take revenge now?.. And the passer-by bent down, bandaged his wounds, took the wounded man to a hotel and paid for his treatment.
Relatives and friends did not see their neighbor in the beaten man and passed by. But the visiting stranger was able to treat him as his neighbor.
The parable of Christ means: the neighbor is the one who will not leave you in trouble. And the neighbor is the one who needs your help. If a person is hurt, it does not matter what language he speaks and what faith or skin color he has. All people have the same color of blood.
Even if this person is personally guilty before you, all the same, in the moment of his trouble, you need to forget your grievances and lend him a helping hand.
You can’t act according to the principle: “As you are to me, so I am to you!” or “So you need it! Get what you deserve!”
Merciful forgiveness is higher and nobler than just retribution.
Mercy reminds us that there are minor troubles, but there are real misfortunes. Someone once tripped you up - and now you got a new bump and a portion of ridicule. It is unpleasant. But time passed - and this someone himself stretched himself ridiculously on a banana skin thrown by someone. Yes, so badly that he injured his leg and could not get up on his own. This is trouble. Can you forget that footboard? Can you not rejoice at his misfortune? Can you come over, help him, call a doctor?
It is not easy to step over your long-standing and seemingly just grievances. But this is the highest of the calls of Jesus Christ: "But I say to you: love your enemies."
A person can learn mercy. If you do deeds of mercy (for example, take care of the sick or the younger, selflessly offer your help ...), then these deeds will eventually change your heart, make it more merciful.
One of the acts of mercy
Alms. This is helping another person out of pity for him. Christ said: “Give to everyone who asks you.” And Saint Dorotheos explained: when you gave alms, you multiplied the amount of goodness in the world. But the poor man whom you helped received only a tenth of the good produced by your good deed. The rest of the good you did to yourself. After all, this made your soul brighter. The great Russian historian Vasily Klyuchevsky described alms as a meeting of two ancient Russian hands. One expressed the request for Christ's sake, the other gave in the name of Christ. The historian rightly says that it is not easy to decide which of these hands carried more good. The need of one person and the help of another merged in brotherly love. The beggar was the best pilgrim for the benefactor. “They enter paradise with holy alms,” they used to say in the old days. Or: "The poor are fed by the rich, and the rich of the poor are saved by prayer." The philanthropist needed to see with his own eyes the human need that he alleviated in order to receive spiritual benefit; the needy had to see his benefactor in order to know whom to pray for. No methods can be used to calculate how much good this daily, silent, thousand-armed charity poured into human relations, how much it taught people to love a person and weaned the poor from hating the rich.
Questions and tasks
1. Read an excerpt from Pushkin's poem:
And for a long time I will be kind to the people
That I aroused good feelings with lyre
That in my cruel age I glorified freedom
And mercy to the fallen called
In what sense do you think Pushkin used the word fallen? (Fallen? Defeated? Sinner?). Explain the expressions fall into sin, fall into sin?
2. Is it possible to take payment for charitable help?
3. What must be done to become merciful?
4. Create your own definition: “Neighbor to me…(continue yourself).
Let's talk heart to heart Is it easy to respond to the call of Christ Christ to love those who offended you, showed themselves as your enemy? What do you find the most difficult about it?

LESSON 11
Main words. Mercy. Near. Good deeds. Virtues.
Read and answer the questions:
WHO IS MY NEIGHBOR?
The good quality of the human soul is mercy. A merciful person is a kind person who pities everyone, sympathizes, forgives. He treats everyone as if he were his own, his neighbor. The gospel taught Christians this attitude towards people.
From sacred history
MERCY SAMARITAN
One day a man asked Jesus Christ: “Who is my neighbor?” In answer to the question, Christ told a parable.
A man was walking from Jerusalem to another city and fell into the hands of robbers. They took his clothes, wounded him and left him barely alive on the road. At that time, a man was walking along the same road. He looked at the unfortunate man and passed by. The second passer-by did the same. But a certain Samaritan, seeing a wounded man on the road, took pity on him. He bandaged his wounds, put him on his donkey and brought him to an inn. The next day, as he was leaving, he gave the innkeeper money and said, "Take care of this man."
After finishing the parable, Jesus asked, “Which of these three was a neighbor to a man who fell into the hands of thieves?” The listener replied: “The one who showed mercy to him.” Jesus told him, "Go and do the same."
Merciful - kind, merciful, pitiful. A Samaritan is an inhabitant of the Samaritan land.
COMPLETE TASKS
1. Answer the questions. What question was asked of Christ? How did Christ respond? Who was walking along the road, where and from where? What happened to him? Who was walking the same road? What did each of them do? Who was the neighbor of the injured person?
Why do Christians call every person who needs help their neighbor? What is the manifestation of Christian mercy?
REMEMBER. Mercy is a compassionate, benevolent, caring, loving attitude towards another person. It manifests itself in deeds of love.
2. We discuss - we reflect. "The goodness of man and his good deeds."
Answer the questions. Is it possible to demand payment for a good deed done or should it be disinterested? Name some good deeds you can do. Think about it, are you ready to be kind if you know that all your work done for the benefit of another person will not be paid for by him and no one will thank you? Are you ready to do good deeds if no one praises you for them and notices them? Is it possible to buy (buy) kindness with money? Is it okay to ask for a reward for a good deed? What did Christians think about this? Answer these questions in writing in a short essay on the topic.
3. We discuss - we reflect. "On Christian Virtues". Read the poems and compare the behavior of two people:
I knew a beggar: like a shadow,
In the morning, it used to be all day
The old man wandered under the windows
And he asked for alms;
But everything that I collected in a day,
It used to be handed out by night
The sick, the crippled and the blind,
Just as poor as himself.
Ya.P. Polonsky
At the gates of the holy monastery
Begging for alms stood
The poor man is withered, a little alive
From hunger, thirst and suffering.
He only asked for a piece of bread,
And the gaze showed living torment,
And someone laid a stone
In his outstretched hand
M. Yu. Lermontov
Why did a beggar, having no welfare himself, having received alms, distribute it to the poor? What made him do this? Name a virtue shown by a beggar. How can you call the act of another person, instead of alms giving a stone? What qualities of the soul are manifested in it? What quality of the soul does the current expression “keep a stone in your bosom” speak of? Does the kindness of a person's soul depend on his well-being (money, property)? What makes a person good? Is it possible to acquire (in Slavonic - to acquire) the kindness of the soul? Select and name its root in the indicated Slavic word and think about whether the work of acquiring the virtues of the soul was easy for Christians? How to become kind? In what deeds and deeds can you show the good qualities of your soul? What prevents a person from being kind?
3. We discuss - we reflect. "About Mercy". Read, explain how the given texts of the Gospel are interconnected?
Is there a man among you who, when his son asks him for bread, would give him a stone?
Gospel of Matthew, chapter 7, verse 9
In everything you want people to do to you, do the same to them.
Gospel of Matthew, chapter 7, verse 12
Find in the poem M.Yu. Lermontov's lines based on the words of the Gospel. The Gospel speaks of a son, that is, a native, close (neighbor) person. But is a beggar the same for all people? Remember the Parable of the Merciful Samaritan and tell me, whom did Christians call their neighbor? Evaluate, on the basis of the commandment of the Gospel, the act of a man who put a stone in the hand of a beggar. What evil quality did he display? Name the positive quality opposite to it and the action that a Christian should have performed. Name the Christian virtue shown by the beggar in Ya.P. Polonsky.
4. Explain what the saying says:
Where it is hard to breathe, where grief is heard, be the first there!
5. Guess why these words are connected:
MERCY - UNSELF - KINDNESS - SERVICE - JOY - GOODNESS - RESPONSIBILITY
6. Read and think if there are cases in our life similar to the one described in the poem by the poet of the 19th century:
WINTER EVENING
Good for you kids
Winter evening;
In a cozy room
You sat down side by side.
Joy, curiosity
On everyone's face;
Interrupts frequently
Mom's ringing laugh.
But not everyone is like that
God gives happiness;
There are many in the world
The poor and orphans.
If
Meet you like
You are like brothers, children,
Snuggle them up.
A.N. Pleshcheev
What does the word "snuggle" mean? In the poem, the poet calls the winter evening. Does this mean that only people suffering from the cold should be pitied? How should a merciful person behave? What good deeds Can you help people in need: the weak, the sick, the poor?
***
Two more lessons from L. Shevchenko's textbook and from mine for comparison here.
Merciful people treat others with the tact, kindness, and respect they deserve. They care more about listening to others before they speak for themselves. They give their time, their love and their efforts to improve the lives of those in need, whether they are friends or total strangers. It's not always easy to be kind in a world that can get frustrating quickly, but if you make the effort to have more mercy in your daily life, you can start to change for the better. Here's how to do it.
Steps
Part 1
Be merciful towards others-
Thank people for their efforts. One of the most important qualities of a merciful person is the ability to thank people for their efforts, no matter how big or small. Even if the employee is just calling you to say something, thank them for their efforts. If someone asks you to donate money on the street, thank them for it, even if you turned them down. If a friend grabs your coffee or reminds you that your favorite show is up later, say "thank you" to them.
- A big part of being kind is being able to appreciate what people do for you. How do you show your appreciation? You say "thank you".
- You can say "thank you" with a small gift, a comment, or even a hug. There are several ways to thank someone and you have the opportunity to choose the best one for each specific situation.
-
Be a good listener. Merciful people do not focus on their own problems, they care more about other people than about themselves. Make an effort to really hear what the person is saying, to make eye contact, and to remove any distractions, such as your phone, that may be distracting you. Don't interrupt people and keep your questions or comments to the end so the person can get the point across and feel like you really care about them.
- Write down all the details that the person tells you so you can come back to them later. If someone mentions that his sister just had a baby girl, the next time you see him, you can ask how his little niece is doing; the person will be pleasantly surprised by your attention and the fact that you remember this.
- Show empathy. If the person is upset, you can say, "I can't imagine what you've been through. It must be so hard because..." Let the person see that you really heard what he told you.
- Don't do multiple things at once. If you're sending a letter or text to a friend, co-worker, or neighbor who wants to talk to you, just ask for a minute so you can give that person your full attention.
-
Pay attention to others. Being merciful means paying attention to people in social situations. Instead of worrying about how to break away or what to say next, you should be monitoring other people's feelings and moods to see if they're worried or anxious, and understand how they interact with each other. It's good to be self-aware enough to be tactful, respectful, and kind, but it's equally important to notice what others think and feel.
- A merciful person understands that other people are just as important as he is. That is why it is so important to pay attention to them.
-
Give people the benefit of the doubt.
- If you get in the habit of doing this, you'll have a kind of reputation for being a charitable person rather than a banal gossip, and people will want to spend even more time with you.
-
Compliment others. Merciful people always look for the good in people and therefore invest in making others feel good. Not because it will make people "bigger", but in the most direct, genuine way, it will make them want to trust you in return. Look around. Compliment not only the most obvious things ("I like your new haircut"), but also the things that people are working hard on ("I like how sunlight gets on the furniture in your room. You must be spending many hours decorating it!") to show that you are really paying attention.
- If you don't feel like giving a compliment, don't do it just to appear nice. But if you make a habit of praising people, you'll be better able to navigate the moments when people really deserve a compliment.
-
Have mercy instead of victory. If you want to be charitable, then remember that it is more important for everyone to be happy than for you to be right. Instead of proving your point, arguing with the person next to you (even if you're sure you're right), you should be kind to them, change the subject, or say something like "I think we should just agree" . Swallowing your pride may not be fun, but no one argues that this is the only way to look good. There's nothing merciful about that, is there?
- If you really have a desire to argue with or correct someone, just count down from ten and tell yourself that it's really worth it. What will you get from this?
- If two people are arguing in front of you, please change the subject.
-
Let other people talk. Do you really have to post everything that's on your mind all the time? Most likely, others have something to say too, and you should let them say what they want. If you and someone else start talking at the same time, insist that your competitor be first. Ask lots of questions instead of talking about yourself and show that you are really interested in people. People love to talk about their ideas and themselves, and it's good to admit it instead of stealing someone else's attention.
- This does not mean that you need to turn into a shy quiet person if that is not who you really are. It simply means that you should let other people do the talking instead of being the center of the conversation.
-
Let others be first. To be merciful is to say "after you" in the literal and figurative sense. If you want to be charitable, you should give someone else the right to order ice cream before you decide to kill your chocolate craving, or you should let the car turn around in front of you, even if you're late for work. This is thinking. Other people have to go before you, and it's really not that important - you will make your move anyway, and you will be kinder to the other person.
- This does not mean that you should let people walk in front of you all the time. This means that you must give in to others when it is reasonable.
Part 2
Developing Merciful Qualities-
Be humble. Merciful people are always humble. They don't brag about how big or showy they are; instead, they act modestly and wait for other people to celebrate their accomplishments. They don't call attention to themselves, they are in awe of the big and complex world, and they don't walk into a room like they own the place. If you want to be humble, then just be and don't brag about it.
- Always trust other people. If someone says that you did a great job on a project, say that you couldn't have done it without the help of your other colleagues.
-
Be respectful. Treat other people with kindness and respect, even if they don't always deserve it. Be punctual if you said you were going to be somewhere at a certain time. Hold the door for people. Don't text your friends or get distracted when you should be fully focused on the other person. Look straight in the eye, don't swear, and treat people kindly, regardless of their social status or their position in your organization. social network or companies.
- Treat people with respect no matter what they can do for you.
-
- Use tact. Use words so that they do not cause a stir. If you know you're walking with two people who have opposing views on the rule of the president, don't bring that topic up in the conversation.
-
Be generous. Generous people are capable of giving, whether it be their time, their money, or their love and kindness. Be the person who is always looking for a way to help others, whether we're talking about your closest friends or complete strangers who need help. Cultivate a generous spirit that is always looking for a way to help others improve and expand their lives.
- Be generous with your time. Of course, helping a friend clean up the apartment will not be very pleasant, but he will appreciate your help, since he was overwhelmed by these dumps in the apartment after the divorce.
- Being generous means acknowledging opportunities when you can help. Your sick friend may not say that he would be very happy if you brought him chicken soup for lunch, but that does not mean that he will not appreciate it.
-
Learn to accept compliments. It is important to receive compliments correctly if you really want to be charitable. Say "thank you" to people for their compliments and show how much their words mean to you. You shouldn't downplay them and say you don't deserve it; pretending to be overly modest can start to annoy people a little. Instead, say something like, "Thank you so much for those words. It means so much to me."
- If you can return the compliment, that would be great. For example, if someone says, "Thank you so much for helping me with my math homework," you could say, "That was my pleasure. And thanks for helping me with English last week. It was so helpful."
-
Criticize.
- Much of your character can be revealed depending on how you take criticism. If you immediately get angry and get defensive, it shows that you don't want to admit your shortcomings. Besides, you just won't be very kind.
-
Be grateful. Kind people act in their own way because they know how to count their blessings instead of focusing on the hardships they have to face. They know exactly what they should be grateful for, whether it be their health, their friends, their family, and/or their opportunities, and they never forget any of these things for a second. If you want to be grateful, then you must always know how grateful you should be, no matter how upset or frustrated you may feel at any moment.
- If you really feel like you're in a dump somewhere, it will help to write a thank you list. It can include all the things you are grateful for, and you can add points to it whenever something happens to you. May you have time to read this list and smile. It can make you feel more grateful no matter how bad your day was.
Part 3
Do your best-
Get involved in volunteering. Give your time to people who really need it and help the community by working at the kitchen allotment, library, homeless shelter, or anywhere else you can help those in need. Do this at least once a week and see how much you can do for the people around you and how much they can change your life for the better. You have to do it voluntarily because you really feel the difference, how much kinder you become when you see the problems that others are having.
- You will see that the people you help will help you as much as you help them. Volunteering can make you feel more grateful for all the benefits you have and give you a fresh perspective.
-
Do favors for other people. If you really want to be merciful, you must not only help your friends when they really need you; you should say thank you to them just because they were good friends or because you know they need a little encouragement. Cook dinner for your friends, help with the laundry, or take your car to work when their car breaks down. Help your mom clean the floor. You will become more compassionate.
- If you have a good relationship, you will get some favors in return and you will feel happy in the back and forth.
-
Admit your mistakes. Truly merciful people know that they are not perfect and are willing to admit their shortcomings.
Show people that you really care about them. It makes people feel important. Get good grades to show your teachers that you respect them and follow their good teaching rules.
- If it's your parent's birthday, prepare a gift and a special card to show how much you care about them and that you've taken the time to put your affairs aside and celebrate their birthday.
Warnings
- If you ever fight with your parents, listen to their opinion and try to learn from your mistakes. Never yell or blame them for ruining your life.
- Never lie to get out of a situation. Do your job and let people know that you are an honest person. Be sure to tell the truth in every situation.
What is mercy, in what human actions it is manifested - is a topical issue. Modern world has a rapidly developing technological revolution that has simplified everyday life each of us. In the race for personal benefits, other people's problems imperceptibly flash, but who wants to stop, give a helping hand to someone in need of support, because everyone has their own worries.
Mercy - what is it?
The kindness of the heart, taking on other people's suffering and problems, the desire to lend a helping hand, regardless of the guilt or innocence of a person - this is what mercy means. The basis of love for one's neighbor, the presence of which helps to save lives and solve other people's problems, to show understanding, to help another - to save one's neighbor from difficult circumstances. Character traits closely related to mercy:
- compassion;
- sympathy;
- goodwill;
- care;
- unselfishness;
- understanding;
- condescension;
- humanity.
What is mercy - moral, in which a person shows gratuitous guardianship to his neighbor, having spent his own resource - time, money, health. By showing mercy, a person can receive an undeserved reproach (moral insult) in the eyes of others who take mercy for showing undeserved respect or elementary stupidity.
Mercy in Christianity
In religion, mercy is an important virtue, indicating that showing concern for one's neighbor is showing love for the Lord and that each person is "created in the likeness of God." Forgiving love, expressed in Christian mercy, it can be manifested in relation to the soul and body of the needy. Good Christian deeds, the manifestation of which saves the human soul:
- screw the sinner from delusions;
- not enlightened give a lesson in kindness and truth;
- give wise advice to those in difficult circumstances or danger;
- give comfort to those who are in sorrow;
- do not respond with evil to an evil deed;
- forgive offenders;
- pray for your neighbors.
Deeds of bodily mercy to the neighbor:
- feed the hungry;
- to drink the thirsty;
- clothe the naked;
- visit the patient
- visit the prisoner in the dungeon;
- shelter a wanderer;
- bury the deceased.
What is mercy for?
The desire to live in a world filled with joy and pleasant relationships is inherent in man. Mercy and kindness are the foundation of harmonious relations in many religions and ancient cultures; the works of philosophers are devoted to them. It is easy to build relationships in society on the principle of justice by analyzing the mistakes of another person, but such a position makes it impossible to get indulgence in Hard time.
To receive help without requiring repayment in return - to develop spiritually, to invest in changes in better side to bring goodness into the world, to bring joy. No one knows at what difficult moment his need for help will arise, who will be nearby will do a merciful deed, regardless of social status or past mistakes. It is always nice to tear a piece of kindness and care from the heart.
What does it mean to be merciful?
To be merciful means that the benefit directed to another person is given free of charge - not for general praise, public recognition or subsequent thanksgiving. Mercy calms the conscience - the person did not reject the given chance to lend a helping hand, but, by virtue of his ability, eased the life circumstances of the person in a bad state of affairs. Mercy extinguishes anger, suppresses selfishness, and this is an opportunity to accumulate spiritual wealth:
- wisdom;
- joy;
- ease of communication;
- sincerity;
- philanthropy.
What do you need to do to become merciful?
Mercy and compassion, done anonymously, is considered the highest degree of virtue. The manifestation of such qualities simple task- to take away one's own means and strength to help a stranger, a generous act worthy of respect. The basic principles of a merciful attitude are based on love for one's neighbor, care shown and assistance rendered. Being merciful means:
- forget about personal gain;
- make concessions forgetting the wrongs caused;
- be able to listen;
- suppress fear (when coming to the hospital not to think that you can get sick);
- donate money to those in need (an affordable share of the funds, insignificant for the person giving);
- find an hour for other people's problems (visit relatives and friends - the elderly, the disabled, orphans);
- help in simple everyday matters (show the address, warn about the danger, give a hint to solve the problem, help a person with disabilities).
Why should a person be merciful?
The problem of mercy and lack of love for others entails suffering in the surrounding world and human hearts. The principle of personal gain - to create comfortable conditions for oneself, regardless of the problems of other people - amuses self-esteem and multiplies selfishness. Being merciful means taking an active part in solving other people's problems, multiplying kindness, giving love, changing the world for the better. Remembering the phrase of the Chinese sage Lao Tzu about mercy, one can say in his words: “Whoever takes, fills the palms, who gives, fills the heart.”
Mercy in the modern world
Love and mercy are notions related to each other in religion. Deeds done to alleviate the suffering of another, expressed without love, are a feeling of pity, sometimes reinforced by reproaches and cold calculation. Mercy in our lives, shown with love, strengthens spiritually, gives hope for changes for the better, saves lives in difficult times, gives peace of mind, teaches that good deed certainly higher than evil.
Is mercy necessary in our time?
Mercy in our time is a mirror showing the moral character of a person. The modern world is filled with contrasts, the social status that separates people shows that it is easier for the poor and the simple to share the suffering of the needy, because they are familiar to him. The rich and noble don't care about other people's basic worries and problems, even if he is able to help and solve problems for thousands of people.
A person has many virtues: kindness, generosity, responsiveness, the ability to sympathize and love, and many others. And they are all based on the love of man for man. And there is another mental quality like mercy.
And it is also aimed at proving that the Latin popular expression"Man is a wolf to man." But it seems to me that mercy is the hardest thing to show. In order to be merciful, one must have the ability to forgive.
You have to be a true humanist. Because initially mercy was a manifestation
Generosity to the defeated enemy. And even now, in my opinion, mercy is a manifestation of generosity to those to whom one does not want to show it.
It is easy to sympathize with an old woman in a subway crossing by slipping a few coins into her outstretched palm.
It's easy to be generous when you buy your little sister chocolates instead of regular lollipops. It's easy to be kind when you help a young mother carry a stroller up to the seventh floor. And how hard it is to resist not "finishing off", not destroying, not demoralizing a completely defeated enemy.
And one more thing: the old woman will wish health in gratitude for the alms, the sister will kiss
On the cheek with chocolate-sticky lips, the young Mama will warmly thank you for your help. After all, the answer to kindness is often kindness. Only the enemy is unlikely to thank for mercy.
Or maybe he will, who knows.
It's hard to help someone you're with bad relationship, but who clearly needs your help or your indulgence. Sometimes being merciful is unbearably hard. And, of course, this is not given to everyone.
And it even seems to me - only the chosen ones.
