The Ivanovo Fire and Rescue Academy of the State Fire Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia is a powerful educational and scientific complex, in which more than 1,500 cadets and students of full-time and correspondence courses study, 350 students, and together with teachers and employees, the team consists of more than 2,500 people. Educational and scientific complex "Fire fighting" was established in January 2010 with the aim of implementing an integrated approach to scientific and educational activities on fire fighting, fire safety, prevention and elimination of consequences of emergencies.

In accordance with the decision of the Academic Council of the Ivanovo Institute of the State Fire Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia dated June 30, 2011, the day of formation educational institution considered September 15, 1966.
In 1968, the construction of a complex of buildings of the school began, and by 1972 a hostel, an educational and administrative building with classrooms, a cinema hall, a shooting range and a dining room were built and put into operation. The requirements for improving the educational process determined the need for a significant expansion of the base of the school and in the period 1977-1986 a new educational building, a second hostel, an indoor sports arena, a training fire station were built, the dining room was expanded to 1200 seats.
On November 1, 1972, on behalf of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, the Ivanovo fire-technical school of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs was awarded the Red Banner.
As part of the provision of friendly assistance to developing countries, a special course on working with foreign students was organized at the Ivanovo fire-technical school of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs from August 1, 1988. It trained fire officers from Afghanistan, North Yemen, Laos, Mongolia, Guinea.
In the late 90s of the twentieth century, the Ivanovo fire-technical school became one of the largest training centers for the training of specialists of the fire protection of Russia in full-time and part-time forms of education.
On December 7, 1999, by order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia No. 1002, on the basis of the Ivanovo fire-technical school, Ivanovo branch of the Academy of the State Fire Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, in which, since 2001, the training of cadets and students in the highest form began.

Over the years of the existence of the educational institution, more than 18 thousand specialists have been trained who work in many regions of Russia, in almost all CIS countries, and more than 80 specialists in Asia and Africa.
Employees and cadets of the educational institution honorably performed special tasks, including combat missions, to ensure the protection of public order and fire safety during the Olympics-80 in Moscow and the XII World Festival of Youth and Students, in the district state of emergency in Baku in 1989 and in the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region in 1990 (the only ones in the system of educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia), the elimination of the consequences of the putsch in Moscow in 1991, ensured the protection of public order during the celebration of 50 anniversary of victory in Moscow, extinguished forest and peat fires in the Ivanovo, Vladimir and Tver regions in 1972, 1979, 1981, 1992, 2002.
In July and August 2010, 276 employees and cadets of the institute took part in extinguishing forest and peat fires in the Ivanovo and Vladimir regions. For courageous and decisive actions during the liquidation emergency more than 150 employees and cadets were awarded medals and signs of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, 10 employees and cadets of the institute were awarded Thanksgiving letters Governor of the Ivanovo region.
