Military Academy connections named after Marshall Soviet Union S. M. Budyonny trains specialists in the field of communications and automation for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and other departments, is one of the first military educational institutions in Russia. During the existence of the educational institution for the Armed Forces Russian Federation more than 32,000 officers were trained, as well as more than 4,000 officers for the military departments of other countries, about two thousand graduates became candidates and more than a hundred doctors of science. History of creation
The military academy was founded on November 8, 1919. On this day, the order of the Revolutionary Military Council of the Soviet Republic was issued, according to which the department of electrical engineering of the Higher Military Engineering School was transformed into the Higher Military Electrotechnical School of the Command Staff of the Red Army (Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army). In 1921, as a result of the reorganization, the school was transformed into the Military Electrotechnical Academy of the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army and Navy with a period of study of 4 and 5 years. On August 28, 1923, a merger with the Military Engineering Academy took place, as a result, the Military Engineering and Electrotechnical Academy was formed.
From 1925 to 1946, the academy went through many reorganizations, all transformations were carried out to select the optimal form of training signalmen from among the officers. In 1925, according to the Decree of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR, Military Technical Academy named after F. E. Dzerzhinsky. As a result of the reorganization, the artillery, military engineering and electrical engineering academies were merged to train officers with higher military technical education from among the command staff.
On May 21, 1932, by order of the Defense Commission under the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR, new special academies of the Red Army were deployed, including the Military Technical Academy. On the basis of the academy, 6 faculties were deployed:

On April 25, 1933, by order of the Revolutionary Military Council of the USSR, the university was named the Military Electrotechnical Academy named after S. M. Budyonny. This decision was made in honor of the 50th anniversary of the revolutionary and hero civil war, member of the Revolutionary Military Council of the USSR Semyon Mikhailovich Budyonny.
In 1941, the institution was reorganized into the Military Electrotechnical Academy of Communications, this was done to develop a centralized and unified system for training qualified specialists for military communications departments.
On November 23, 1941, by order of the State Defense Committee, the academy was evacuated to Tomsk. On December 18, the first echelons arrived in the Siberian city, and already on January 12, 1942, scheduled classes began at all faculties in the usual way, but under new conditions. In April 1944, the GKO decided to re-evacuate educational institution.
In October 1944, by decision of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, the academy received the Red Banner with the inscriptions "For our Soviet Motherland" and "Military Electrotechnical Academy of Communications of the Red Army named after S. M. Budyonny." On November 7, the Academy received the Order of the Red Banner in honor of the 25th anniversary of its founding. From that day on, it is referred to as the Military Electrotechnical Red Banner Academy of Communications of the Red Army named after S. M. Budyonny. Since 1946, after another reorganization, it became known as the Red Banner Military Academy of Communications named after S. M. Budyonny.
In 1952, on the basis of an educational institution, the Military Academy of Communications (for command personnel) and the Military Engineering Academy of Communications named after S. M. Budyonny were created. In 1957, the two academies were merged into the S. M. Budyonny Military Communications Academy. In 1958, on the basis of the decision of the Government of the USSR on the inadmissibility of appropriation military units, educational and other institutions named after a living prominent statesman, the name of Commander Semyon Mikhailovich Budyonny was removed from the name of the Academy.
In 1998, by order of the Minister of the Russian Federation, the academy was reorganized into the Military Institute of Communications. As additional faculties, the institute was supplemented by the Higher Military Engineering School of Communications of St. Petersburg. The branches of the academy became the Ryazan Higher Military command school communications, the higher military engineering school in Ulyanovsk and the higher military command communications school in Kemerovo.

Admission conditions
Citizens of the Russian Federation with a secondary general education who have passed a medical examination and are recognized as fit to study at a university, as well as who have passed a preliminary professional selection, can become candidates for admission to the Military Academy of Communications. Admission is allowed:
- persons from 16 to 22 years of age who have not completed military service in the ranks of the RF Armed Forces;
- persons who have completed military service in the ranks of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, as well as military personnel undergoing military service by conscription and under the age of 24;
- military personnel (not from the officer corps) undergoing military service under a contract who have not reached the age of 27.
The age of applicants is determined on August 2 current year receipts in educational institution. The Military Academy of Communications named after Marshal of the Soviet Union S. M. Budyonny is one of the oldest military educational institutions in the country, which trains specialists in the field of telecommunications and automation for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, other ministries and departments.
