Employees and cadets of the educational institution honorably performed special tasks, including combat missions, to ensure the protection of public order and fire safety during the Olympics-80 in Moscow and the XII World Festival of Youth and Students, in the district state of emergency in Baku in 1989 and in the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region in 1990 (the only ones in the system of educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia), the elimination of the consequences of the putsch in Moscow in 1991, ensured the protection of public order during the celebration of 50 anniversary of victory in Moscow, extinguished forest and peat fires in the Ivanovo, Vladimir and Tver regions in 1972, 1979, 1981, 1992, 2002.
In July and August 2010, 276 employees and cadets of the institute took part in extinguishing forest and peat fires in the Ivanovo and Vladimir regions. For courageous and decisive actions during the liquidation emergency more than 150 employees and cadets were awarded medals and signs of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, 10 employees and cadets of the institute were awarded Thanksgiving letters Governor of the Ivanovo region.
In the year of the 20th anniversary of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia on April 30, 2010, the Alley of Glory was opened in front of the facade of the institute, on which the Memorial Memorial in honor of the graduates of the educational institution who died in the line of duty and the Museum of Fire Engineering is located.
April 30, 2011 in order to streamline official symbols and preserve historical traditions the Institute was awarded the Banner established by the Decree of the President of Russia.
In July 2012, the combined detachment of the Institute in the amount of 164 people was quickly transferred by air transport of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia to the southern federal district, where they took part in the elimination of the consequences of the flood in the Krasnodar Territory.
In September 2013, 114 cadets and 10 employees of the institute successfully completed all the assigned tasks for the engineering equipment of protective structures in the area of the emergency situation associated with flooding in the Far Eastern Federal District, and ensured the prevention of flooding of one of the districts of the city of Komsomolsk-on-Amur. For courage and dedication shown in conditions involving a risk to life, skillful, proactive and decisive actions that contributed to the successful implementation of measures to save people and property, 100% of the cadets were awarded the medal of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia "For Distinction in Eliminating the Consequences of an Emergency", and all unit commanders who took part in the liquidation of emergency situations were awarded special ranks of senior, middle and junior commanding staff (early).
Over the past years, the institute has trained more than 18,000 specialists in the field of fire safety. Many of them have held and hold senior positions in the EMERCOM of Russia and other departments. For high performance in expanding the range of educational services, scientific and pedagogical activity, improving the educational and material base, improving the quality of training of future specialists of the EMERCOM of Russia by order of the EMERCOM of Russia dated October 6, 2014 No. 554, the Ivanovo Institute of the State Fire Service of the Emergencies Ministry of Russia from January 1, 2015 was renamed into Ivanovo Fire and Rescue Academy of the State Fire Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.

Since 2011, interaction with high school students has been established high school No. 148 on educating young people and instilling in them the skills of firefighters and rescuers, the so-called class "Ministry of Emergency Situations-resource".
